Chapter 2

Three years later

I packed up my bag and got ready for my day. "So are you ready for your big day?" Maggie asked me. I was meeting with the Avengers to get them involved with the new senate committee, the superhuman response, limitations, and image committee. I was meeting with Tony Stark and Steve Rogers at Avengers Tower to propose the idea of their involvement.

"Yeah, I guess so," I told Maggie.

"What if you see her?" Maggie asked talking about Natasha. I paused a part of me really wanted to see Natasha it had been three years since I last saw her, but another part of me was terrified of the possibility that I would see her again.

"I mean, I'll stay professional, if the Avengers agree I will eventually have to see her and it will have to be like professional and hopefully not awkward."

"Don't count on that," Maggie said,

"Yeah, I know," I said as I left my apartment. I walked to the tower. And walked to the door. I was greeted by an AI. "Hello, do you have a scheduled appointment?" it asked.

"Yes," I said, "I have a meeting with Steve Rogers and Tony Stark." The AI scanned my face.

"Welcome Senator Hall, please come in." I walked into the building and into a conference room. Steve Rogers and Tony Stark were already sitting in chairs. I walked over to them I went and shook Tony's hand,

"Hello, Senator Hall, Tony Stark." He said.

"Oh, please call me Y/n," I said, "Good to see you again Steve," I reached my hand out to Steve Rogers.

"You too y/n," Steve said.

"Alright!" Tony banged on the table, "Let's get to business!" We all sat down,

"I love your enthusiasm, Mr.Stark," I said. I reached into my bag and pulled out my computer. I opened it up and went to a document with all the points I wanted to get to. "Alright," I started, "So, the Senate has recently started a new committee the Superhuman response, limitations, and image committee, and I am the chair of it. Now, I would love to get the Avengers involved with this. We would work together to see what works for you and us. While it isn't necessarily new the whole superhuman thing let alone a team of them is scary to a lot of people and can be very dangerous. Now I trust you all, I think you're all great people and want the best for everyone and unfortunately, not everyone would agree, and that is something I want to change. So that touches on the image and a bit of the limitations. With the limitations, we want to set some restrictions for you. I mean you all can't run around doing whatever you want, I want you to be able to do your thing but within the law. So that is my proposal do you all have any questions?"

"I mean," Steve started, "Y/n you really said that all very well, but I do have one question,"

"What's in it for us?" Tony asked.

"Good question Mr. Stark, I want to work directly with you to make limitations and regulations that will directly affect you and I want your input on that. Also, I want the public to love, appreciate, and respect you and that is one of my goals with this committee." I said.

"I don't know about you Tony, but I like the sound of this," Steve said.

"Well capsicle, this is one of the few times I agree with you," Tony said.

"We'll talk to the other Avengers, but this sounds great and I'm sure they will all like the idea" I shook both Tony and Steve's hands.

"Thank you both for your time and it was really great meeting with you both."

"You too Y/n," Steve said, "Have a great day."

"Yeah," Tony said, "See you later Y/n." I walked out of the door and down the hall to the elevator. While I was walking I stopped, it was her. My heart started beating faster, I felt like I was stuck and couldn't move.

"Y/n?" she said.

"Natasha," I sighed.

"Y/n, what are you doing here?" She asked.

"I, I had a meeting with Steve and Tony," I said.

"Oh," she sounded disappointed, "Well, how are you?"

"I'm doing good, how are you, it's been so long."

"It has, I'm fine." I had a billion things to say to her but I didn't know which one to say.

"Well," I said, "It was great seeing you again but I have to attend to some other work," I said.

"Yeah, nice seeing you," Natasha said.

I walked into the apartment and Maggie was sitting on the couch, "How'd the meeting go?" she asked.

"Yeah good, it was good," I said, I was still a bit frazzled.

"I need details, I'm on this committee too," Maggie said.

"Uh," I started, "Steve and Tony liked the idea and are talking to the rest of the Avengers about it, but it looks good for us."

"Oh, good," Maggie said, "So, you are clearly distracted with something else, are you going to tell me what's going on?"

"Um," I started.

"You saw her didn't you?"

"I-"

"Holy shit!" Maggie said, "What happened?"

"I, we talked but nothing more than 'I'm fine' and 'it's been too long'"

"Oh," Maggie paused, "did you want to talk about more?"

"I mean, I don't even know what I would say, it's been what three years and the last time I saw her I kissed her and she ran away," I said.

"Do you still like her?"

"No," I said, "Well, seeing her again it's just," I paused and really thought about it, "I don't know."
