Chapter 3

Natasha pov:

Y/n, y/n, y/n, repeated over and over in my mind. I tried to stop thinking about her but I couldn't. She was my past, she was supposed to stay in my past. I hated the way she made me feel, the things she made me think, that I could actually be happy and be with her. "Natasha!" Tony called as he waved in front of my face I got out of my own head,

"Yeah," I said.

"Not listening is my job, and this is important, so are you in on this partnership?"

"The one with y/n hall?" I asked, it felt weird saying her name.

"No, the partnership with superman, what the hell else have we been talking about?" Tony said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes as far back as I could.

"Yeah, I'm in," I said.

"Great!" Tony said,

"Well, it's unanimous!" Cap said. I really didn't know what to think, this meant I would see y/n a lot, I would work with her again and I really don't know how to deal with that, I mean I was excited to see her again but I knew what being with her would do to me. I stood up from the couch and walked toward my room.

"Where the hell are you going Natasha, we're not done," Tony said.

"Just tell her I'm in, I just need a minute ok?" I said as I walked to my room.

Y/N Pov

"Shit!" I jumped off of the couch I had been laying on while watching Tv with Maggie and pulled up text messages on my phone.

"What?" Maggie asked as she turned away from the tv.

"They're in!" I said.

"The Avengers?" Maggie asked.

"Yeah!" I said.

"Wait really?" Maggie got up and walked over to me.

"Yeah listen to this. 'Hey y/n, all of the Avengers talked over your pitch and we're all in. We are all super excited to work with you and the rest of the committee!'" I read, "It's from Steve!" Maggie wrapped her arms around me and we jumped up and down screaming, we were so happy.

"What about Natasha?" Maggie asked when we sat back down.

"Please Maggie let me have a few minutes of happiness," I said. She smiled at me,

"Fair enough," She said.

I woke up the next morning and went up to Avengers Tower. I was meeting with all of the Avengers today to go over the plans for our first committee meeting. I walked into the building and was greeted by the same AI as before, Jesse. I took the elevator to another conference room. I was met by Tony, Steve, Wanda, Vision, Bucky, Sam, Clint, Bruce, Thor, Pietro, Rhodey, and of course Natasha. "Hi everyone," I said, "This really is everyone," I said.

"Give or take a few people," Tony said, "T'challa had business to take care of, Danvers is never here, and I'm sure I'm forgetting people."

"Ok," I said. I looked through everyone my eyes lingered on Natasha. "Anyway, who will be at the meeting in DC?" I asked.

"Well," Steve started, "I believe it's Tony and I, Rhodey, Sam, Bruce, and Natasha."

"Oh, ok," I said, "Well then I really only need to meet with the six people going."

"You heard her!" Tony said, "Wanda, Vision, Bucky, Thor, Pietro, and Clint, out!" They all stood up and walkways out.

"Well, nice meeting you all," I called after them. "So, I started, I'm just going to talk to you all about next Wednesday," I said, "It'll be pretty easy for you all. We're basically going to start with talking about how we can help you all so come up with some ways we can make the US better for the Avengers. Just you know be respectful and all."

"Ehem Tony," Sam fake coughed. I chuckled.

"Make sure to look nice as you probably know so suits and Natasha, wear something like you wore at your snake hearing all those years ago." I couldn't believe I had brought that up. Natasha smirked at me.

"Noted," She said, "just like the hearing."

"Yeah, so I think that's pretty much it. Just be on time and you know respectful." I said.

"Sounds good," Bruce said. The Avengers started walking out of the room.

"Natasha, wait," I said. She turned to me, "We need to talk," I said.

"Do we?" Natasha asked.

"Yeah, um so last time I saw you, well not last time, the time before that, during the hearing," I said, I could barely talk around her anymore, my brain turned to mush whenever she looked at me and I completely lost my breath.

"You're a little obsessed with that court hearing aren't you?" Natasha asked.

"No," I said, "I'm not, I just wanted to say whatever happened then, it was a mistake, I had a lot going on, a lot of emotions. There was just a lot going on and I was confused, nothing more." I said.

"Ok," Natasha said.

"So can we just forget about it?" I asked.

"It's forgotten, you're the one who needs to forget anyway," Natasha said.

"Yeah, so let's just be professional ok?" I said.

"Easy," Natasha said, "I'm always professional."

"Then you've changed," I laughed, "but that's good." I leaned in and hugged Natasha and she hugged me back.

"See, professional," Natasha said.

"Very," I laughed.
