I stared at Noah as I continuous lied down on his lap. I can't remember a time when I did this with him, well other than the memory of us playing the harp together.
I felt water dripping onto my skin and I thought it was water droplets falling from the trees but then it became heavier and poured down on both me and Noah.
I tried to get up but Noah stopped me and looked at me.
"I wanna spend a night in the rain with you," he said.
"Umm, we'll get sick and ill, Noah.." I replied.
"I don't care, I know you've accomplished something." He looked at me and raised an eyebrow and gave me that jerk smirk.
I know what he did.
"Yeah, that's right hon, your list. I know you want it." He chuckled as I lie down on his lap again. It felt so good to be smacked by tonnes of raindrops and feeling refreshed.
Best part of all, I get to be alone with Noah.
"Has it been long since?" Noah asked.
"Since?" I replied.
"Since I've returned home to my dad."
"Seems like it."
"Help me out here, Dee, I don't know whether I should go back. And plus, I just came in to my uncle's home. Who knows my dad would still be drunk." He sighed.
I gave no words.
We never spoke for about 3 seconds.
"Maybe you should stay at your uncle's for a while." I replied.
"Sure.." He said.
I looked up at him as he looked around the area surrounding us. He seems like a person who loves the outdoors.
The rain came to a slow drizzle and continued pouring down anyway.
"Would you like to go now?" He asked me.
"For a little while more? I'm enjoying this to be honest." I said.
"Are you looking forward to the concert?"
"Definitely! I need some serious time-out and listen to professional harp players."
"Don't worry, it's coming soon." He reminded me. "Remember when I came to your house and we played it together?"
"Yes, what about it?"
"That was the moment I really loved you so much."
"Does it now?"
"Still do." He smiled.
I really liked how he keeps going back to the memories we shared together like how we first met, he didn't even know I was crushing on him, vice versa, and when he was always there for me when I needed help. I really appreciated him.
We looked around again, this time, I noticed someone familiar again.
It was my mom.
She wasn't in her work uniform, dressed casually, wearing just a hoodie and jeans, carrying her purse with her.
She was closer.
She looked like she wanted to go somewhere, not to where she currently lives.
She was very close now.
Until to a point she walked to us and looked at Noah first as I hid my face.
She was literally really close now.
"Hi there, can I ask where is Sherwood Street, House 348?"
348? House 348?! That's my house number!
"Um, I'm kind of lost so..." She stopped and then push my bag down, as she saw my face. "Diane? What are you doing here?"
"Mom, what are you doing here?" I sounded on edge, "And why are you going to my house?"
"Oh, um.. I'm going to see your father." She coughed. "I'm gonna talk things out with him."
"You're planning to reconcile with Dad? What happened to your true love?" I asked and rolled my eyes.
"He.. Uh.. left me for someone else." She finally said it.
"Doesn't feel good, does it?" I asked as to hope she knows how Dad feels. "Anyways, Dad's not home till midnight around there, depends."
"Then can I just wait in your house till he comes back?" She pleaded.
I looked at Noah. It was awful for him to see this. But he is in a family affair too. He cocked his head and looked at me, telling me to go with it.
"All right then." I told my mom, "But if you came to my house to make things worse, you watch it. Dad won't like it."
I grabbed my bag and felt something in it. It was just the gift box Kendall gave me. I took it out forcefully and threw it into the river.
"What was that Diane?" Noah asked.
"Just something I didn't wanna bring home and it's a waste of space in my bag." I replied.
We then walked together as my mother followed behind, busy with her phone.
"Really sorry you had to see this, I never expected her to come and swing by.." I reminded Noah.
"It's okay darl. I know how it feels." He replied.
"My dad is gonna flip out when he found out that she's there. Same goes to Jerome."
"Don't worry too much, maybe it'll go smooth. You may never know." He smiled at me as we continued walking.
We walked through the park, passing by trees that follow the path. I turned my head to the back a little to check on my mother, she was still busy typing on her phone.
The night sky was vast and dark, had spots of white which makes it more beautiful. The streetlights shone its light on everything. It was so silent I can hear fishes flopping up into the air and back into the water, and the river flowing.
"So, you still up to meet me on the roof tonight?"
"Definitely.." I smiled, "Thanks once again."
"Hey, I'm just doing my job of taking care of you, 'cause I care.." He smiled softly.
We were now walking on the pavement beside the road.
"Just can't wait for the harp concert." I said, expressing my eagerness for it.
"I can tell," he reminded, then giving off a small laugh.
My phone vibrated and rang its notification tone which goes "Check it". Weird.
I took out my phone, and turned the screen on, slid down the notification tab and it was a text from Oliver, Oliver Waltz. It's been a while since I last talked to him or even seen him.
I opened my text messager to look at his text and reply to it.[9:17PM] Oliver: Hey, noticed it's been a while since I last talked to you. Mind if we meet up soon in school?
I looked at it again, and did a random, weird thumb dance, thinking of what to reply to him. I came up with one then.
[9:18PM] Diane: Sure, tomorrow, lunch? After school at the cafeteria.
I pressed the off screen button on the side of the phone and tucked my phone back into my side pocket.
I looked at Noah, staring at his perfectly gorgeous blonde hair under the street lights. Turned my head to my side, and glanced at my mom, still following and busy with her phone.
We continued walking towards my house.
