I've been looking for Steve for over an hour. I went to the enlisting centre, and they said they hadn't seen them since they rejected him. Harsh. Knowing him, he wouldn't have listened to a word I said earlier about not enlisting anymore and is most likely at the town over applying for the army there. So that's where I went.
When I arrive, I ask the staff if they have seen him and, as suspected, they said he had just left and was walking down the street. He couldn't have gone too far so I begin to walk down the street, hoping that he will just show up.
As I'm walking, I hear some commotion coming from an alleyway. Curiosity got the best of me and to my surprise two guys, one of them around 5'4 and the other 6 foot-ish, were in a fight. The smaller one was obviously losing, so I decided I would help him out a bit. As I got a bit closer, I could recognise the face of the short one. Steve.
"Hey, pick on someone your own size!" I yell at the guy. He turns around and throws a punch at me, which I quickly dodge and punch him straight in the face, followed by a kick in the ass. He left after that. I turn to Steve who is still trying to stand up without falling over.
"Sometimes I think that you like getting punched" I said sarcastically, while watching him steady himself.
"I had him on the ropes" he replied. I look to the floor and see another enlistment form.
"How many times is this?" I ask as I bend down to pick up the form, "oh, you're from Paramus now? You know that its illegal to lie on the enlistment form. And seriously, Jersey?"
"Did you get your orders?" he asks. I drop my head, thinking about the conversation I had earlier with ash.
"The 107th, Sergeant James Barnes. Shipping out for England first thing tomorrow" I paused thinking for a second, "Ash and I want to do something fun for my last night and we want you and Peggy to join us, if you're up for it."
"Oh of course, where are we going?"
"Ash wanted it to be a surprise, so I have no idea, actually", I laughed and so did he.
*Ashley's POV*
After the chat with Bucky, I knew exactly where I was going to take him. Coney Island. The first place I ever met him. The place I fell in love with him. I thought it was fitting and that it was the best place we could spend his last day together. He might even convince Steve to go on the cyclone again, for old times sake. Thinking about that day used to make me feel so happy, but now the only emotion felt is sadness, as it reminds me that Bucky will have to leave soon and I don't want that to happen.
I'm finishing up doing my hair for the night, about to start on my makeup, when I hear a knock at the door. It must be Peggy, so I quickly hop up and get the door for her. I am greeted with a hug and her asking me if I was okay with the whole situation. That alone would have made me burst into tears but I tried my best to hold it together. "Yeah, I'm okay, I think its just the fear of losing him forever that makes it worse," my voice cracks in the middle of my sentence.
"Oh Hun, come here" she pulls me in for another hug, this time her hand rubs up and down my back while I cry in her arms. Once we pull apart from each other she leads me into the house and asks to see what I am wearing.
I decided on a coral-coloured, button up dress that stops just below the knee. I wash the tears off my face and finish my makeup, adding some blush, mascara and lip gloss trying my best to keep it natural.

Once we're both ready we hop in the car and drive up to Coney Island, meeting the boys up there. Peggy looks over at me to see that my hands are shaking in my lap, so she reaches over and grabs them, rubbing her thumb over the top. "You going to be okay, I promise. Just enjoy tonight" I nod at her statement, looking out the window in front of me to see the entrance to Coney Island. Here we go, I think to myself.
