Your eyes scanned around the field as you tried to spot Jamie but didn't see him warming up with the others yet. You regretted not having brought another friend with you, or asking Jamie to tell you who to look out for because you felt a little lost sitting all by yourself, not usually a huge fan of watching sports. But he'd invited you and you didn't want to let him down, he always supported you as well.
You shielded your eyes from the sun, looking around but still couldn't spot Jamie so you leaned back and fumbled in your bag for some water, feeling dehydrated from sitting in the sun even after just a few minutes. More and more people were filling the steps you were sat on all around but no one sat too close to you and you smiled and how many spectators were actually gathering to watch the game.
Suddenly, you heard someone call your name and turned your head into the direction of the shout, smiling when you saw Jamie jogging towards you.
"Yeh made it" he said, running his fingers through his hair to brush it back from his face. His skin was glistening with sweat and you simply couldn't imagine how anyone wanted to be active with the sun burning down the way it was right now.
"Of course" you smiled, taking a sip of water. "There's such a huge audience."
He grinned. "Yeh, weh barely get tha' maneh spectators" he smirked. "Are yeh by yehrself?"
"Uh ... yeah..." you admitted, biting your lip.
"Let meh introduce yeh teh some mates, eh? Yeh can sit wif them, they're over there."
"Oh ... sure" you said, a little shy because you were always anxious meeting new people but kind of glad you didn't have to spend the whole game by yourself as well. Gathering your stuff, you stood up and followed him a little further up the steps and to the side where a group of guys was sat with snacks and beer.
"These are some o' me friends" Jamie said. "Alex, Matt and Nick..." he said, pointing to each guy individually as he said their names before introducing you as well.
"Nice teh meet yeh..." Matt said, smiling and scooting closer to the others to make some room for you.
You smiled, shuffling to sit down with them. "Thanks" you said. "Nice to meet you too."
"Yeh want a beer?" Alex asked, pushing his sunglasses up over his forehead and reaching into the cooler behind himself, your eyes widening when he handed you a bottle, looking right back at you.
Your heart skipped a beat, just from the look in his eyes, it was like he was staring right into your soul and his smile ... you swallowed and tried to play it cool as you took the bottle from him. "Thank you..." you said quietly, clearing your throat.
He waved it off, his smile widening. "So, 'ow come weh've never met 'er?" Alex asked, looking up at Jamie, shielding his eyes from the sun as well and squinting up at his mate.
"Well, sheh's classier than always 'angin' at the pub like us lot..."
You rolled your eyes, laughing. "Not that classy. I have no problem going to the pub" you defended yourself, not wanting to seem like you were better than them, even though you knew Jamie was only joking.
"Gotta come wif us some time then" Alex said, smirking.
Oh dear, what was that guy doing to you? You couldn't recall the last time you'd seen a guy as cute as him. "I-I ... yeah..." you said. Wow, he probably already didn't have the greatest impression of you. His voice was doing things to you ... it was so deep and yet soft and you had no idea how that was even possible.
You took a sip of the cold beer to somehow occupy yourself and not seem like a creep staring at him.
"I've got teh go" Jamie said. "Be nice to 'er. I'll see yeh later."
