Helix In! I have here another chapter, and now, let's get to it!
January 18th, 2078, 8am...
Continuing on with my workload of the day on the terminal as I typed away at the terminal, sure the thing is a little slow, what isn't these days?
Aren't like the terminals back on the Rig, and least one does not have to fear about propaganda and censorship here.
I chuckle at that and continue on with my usual workload.
'More troop placements, outpost reports, successful strikes, ok, this is good.' I told myself as my eyes glanced down towards my sidearm as I unholstered and caressed it.
It was well-worn silver plasma pistol, on the sides were two emblems, on the front of the ejector switch and cell was the name 'G86' and on the other side was simply the Enclave's emblem, the bold and classic big E and ring of stars around it. A small scope attached on the top as well as something on the bottom, something unique from the Rig as the lower attachment emanated a faint blue hue.
I caressed the weapon fondly, remembering my father as a sigh escaped my lips as I placed my pistol back into the holster and went back to my work.
The work continued on as my mind went elsewhere.
"Hmmm, odd, that squad Mosley had sent should have reported in by now. Thankfully, my team is prepared for a fight, and Bradley-Hercules should be in targeting range by now." I told myself as my mind retraced my steps before I had reentered my quarters to do my work as I looked up to the ceiling, wondering how long the concrete would hold.
I shrugged off the thought as I filed another report. Once finished, I got off the chair and grabbed a few of my belongings and was about to leave my office/quarters until...
Loud sirens can be heard, albeit garbled from the old systems.
"TO ALL AVAILABLE PERSONNEL, THIS IS NOT A DRILL, BROTHERHOOD PERSONNEL HAVE FOUND US! BE PREPARED TO DEFEND THE BASE! EXTRACT ANY LEFTOVER DATA THAT HAS NOT BEEN TRANSMITTED TO A SECURE LOCATION OR WIPE IT!" I heard the voice of Mackley as the alarm play as my teeth grit in frustration.
"Damnit! They're here!?" I asked myself as I noticed static as I fiddled around my desk and from the drawers, was one of the radios we were issued with.
"Commander, Squad Phantoka is ready!" I heard Mosley's voice call out as I grabbed my receiver.
"Major, get them ready and get Plisskin on his Verti and ready." I tell her.
"Of course, sir, shall I get your power armor ready?" Mosley asks as I clicked my tongue as I went over to my terminal and began to eject the holotape inside.
"Is that a question, Major?" I asked her.
"No sir, we'll have it ready!" She says as the connection ends as I grabbed the radio and placed in my pockets and grabbed the tapes, my personal amenities, along with a few clips of MFCs and headed out, packing my personal items into a bag.
My coat fluttered as the alert sirens blared and the officers present or those who haven't been outside yet have begun destroying or securing the leftover data that had not been sent over to Chicago months back or to the rendezvous point.
"Hurry! We must not let them know of Chicago!" One of the officers' yells as they destroy a holotape.
"Burn the evidence!" Another officer shouts as they pop out the tapes and wiped a terminal clean of anything aside from pre-war records, give those tech-hoarders the slip.
