The rain didn't seem like it wanted to stop, clearly, someone in Celestia was unhappy. A shadow appeared in the harsh rain and as you stared at the unknown figure you recognised a mask attached to the hip... "Xiao! Aether!" You called out, running to them.
Aether was strung over Xiao's arms, almost lifelessly. But Xiao was in no better condition. He carefully propped Aether back on his feet and...
He collapsed. "Xiao!" You caught him before he hit the ground. What do I do? You stress, I can't carry both of them at once.
Childe rushed over and assisted Aether as you picked up Xiao.

"What happened to you two?!" You demanded but they both stayed silent. Sighing, you offer them a warm bowl of veggie soup, hoping it will help with their shivering. Travelling with them both unwell would make the trip much longer. We should stay here while they recover, You fall deep into thought, Where will we stay? We can't stay here forever.
"Cloud... Retainer..." Xiao mumbled slowly, interrupting your thoughts, bringing you back to his condition: it was deeply worrying you. Xiao had always been pale, but this was different. Why isn't his condition improving? You wonder, turning your gaze to Aether who had recovered just fine within a few hours.
"Cloud Retainer?" Aether repeated, "Oh! Cloud Retainer's place is around here." Aether pointed to one of the pillars of rock.
You nod, picking up Xiao and signalling for the others to follow but... Doubt crept through your veins, Would Cloud Retainer accept Childe? After all, he was the one who released Osial... Shaking your head, you followed the long path up the mountain.
Xiao seemed to have noticed the movement and clung tighter to your back, almost digging his nails into your skin. He shakingly pulled his way to your ear as you struggled to adjust your grip to support him, "Y-Y/N..." His head fell to rest on your shoulder, "I'm so... Sorry." His grip loosened and he passed out once more.
"Is he going to be alright..?" Aether's voice wavered, piquing your curiosity. What on Teyvat changed him? And why does he care all of a sudden? You believed Aether would just be mumbling on about his typical shenanigans but he seemed to be just as worried about Xiao as you were.
"Y/N?"
"Y/N!" Aether waved his hand in front of you for attention, "You there? What is going on? You haven't been the same since we got back," Aether bombarded you with questions.
"Neither have you," You spoke coldly, avoiding the questions. Aether stared at you expectantly and you caved, rolling your eyes. "Xiao will be fine..." I hope. You weren't entirely sure but that was just your overthinking, right?
"And the second question," Childe pursued. "Y/N, What's bothering you?" He spoke firmly.
You shook your head, "Just stress. It's nothing..."
A/N: Okay so, my brain won't work with me. I'm absolutely dead for motivation and tbh keep forgetting this exists. But I'm prob gonna do like some giant time skips so that we can get to the Tsaritsa alr cuz I'm boring myself to death here. Please leave any ideas in the comments, I need inspiration 😭
