Chapter 1 - Prologue

Kushina grew up in a loving family. So loving that she was always aware of the surrounding happiness. Her mother and father were so in love, they practically radiated warmth for each other. This warmth extended to Kushina when she was born, and so Kushina grew up being loved beyond measure.

She grew up hearing stories of how her parents met and became the most admired couple of the island. She used to visualize how she would get her happy ending. Likewise, she wanted someone to love her just as much as her parents loved each other. She wanted a big family of her own one day. Besides being a badass kunoichi of course.

But Kushina knew she could not think of that just yet. She had to train and become strong first. She had to be able to protect her family in the future. No way was she going to be one of those prissy princesses who always had to be saved in dangerous situations.

So that is what she did. Train and train and train some more. And when Kushina heard she had to leave her home for some time to protect their allies, Konohagakure, she wasn't all that upset. She could show her parents how much she has matured and how strong she had become already. And when she got back, everybody would know how important of a roll Kushina had played in protecting what the whole island considered close friends/allies. It would take less than a month, and she would be back.

Too bad it did not work out like that at all. Kushina was 11 years old when she lost everything she had ever held dear to her. Her home island was attacked by three other villages who had teamed up to destroy the beautiful and strong Uzushiogakure, and all its wonderful people.

She was 11 years old when she had, for the first time in her life, felt a sliver of hate. Hate towards the same village she should now consider her own. The village which she would now be expected to serve and fight for. The same village that did not send help to their allies. The same village that heard the news of Uzushiogakure's downfall and had the audacity to expect her to forget about them and start anew. Kushina did not want that. She wanted her mom and dad, and she wanted her people. But eventually she had to accept what happened and that she now had nothing to her name. She was an orphan in a foreign village, and she stood out like a beacon with her blood-red hair.

Kushina was forced to mature at a younger age than most and had to think carefully about what it was her parents would have wanted for her. After grieving and mourning her home and people, she realized her parents would have never wanted her to be so miserable. So, she set out to fulfil her number one goal. She would become strong. Stronger than ever, so she would never have to lose another family member, should her dream of having a big family ever come true. And this dream was her goal. Especially now that she did not have any family left. At least none that she knew about.

So, the years passed and things were incredibly hard on her own. But she drew strength from the memories of her parents and pushed on. Thus, she met the love of her life. An easily flustered, yet extremely powerful man named Namikaze Minato. He was her best friend before he ever was her lover and together, they became stronger and learned to love each other. Even after Kushina revealed her status as the village Jinchuuriki, Minato understood and stayed by her side. After some time, Minato went on to teach his own set of students and later on became Hokage.

Living his dream of protecting his village and loved ones, Minato felt he only missed one thing in his life. A family. After talking to Kushina about it, they found out they both wanted to have kids and started trying for a baby.

A couple of months later and Kushina was announcing her pregnancy to her ecstatic husband. He was incredibly happy and excited and helped her through everything like the sweet gentleman he was. They found out they would be having twins. It was a miracle, really. Twins were not common at all. The only twins in all of Konoha were the head of the Hyuuga house and his brother.
