Salt of the Earth

So this topic is a one that is commonly just over looked and not really touched on. A topic that's such a simple thing. But this question ....what makes you a good person? Why do you think you're a good person? But this question is not so straightforward

Long story short my beloved girlfriend and I( for who I cherish...inside joke haha if you know you know) where drinking shooting the shit and kind of had a deep conversation about good people? who we thought were good people and good things? And then a question arose.....

What makes somebody a good person? A very basic question .six words, what makes you a good person? His question baffled me, I was lightweight shocked and at loss for an answer. I cannot get this question out of my head. It's been pondering me for a weeks now. I always believe I was truly a good person but I never knew how to answer this question. Is there more than one types of good people? Or types of good in this world?

Am I a physically good person? Do I bring no harm to anybody? Am I spiritually good person whereas if I could feel peoples energy and give off good energy? So I thought I put the pen to the pad and write this paper. When this question arose.  I wondered for an answer, so I decided to ask people this question and do a personal people studies to see what everybody thought.

  I got answers all over the board.  I got answers with  everything from helping people, giving things , random acts of kindness ,taking care of yourself , loving yourself , bringing no harm , and treating everyone  equal are the most common answers I received . Even received answers like fuck bring a good person and fuck people hahah.
So one of my most favorite answers I received was from my uncle who has seen many sides of good and bad. I found his answer very interesting and very intriguing as if his years of wisdom was breed for this question-
"I say good is an interpretation of what you see and how you feel about yourself. I know some fucked up people who think they're all that and then some. But they worth cat shit. But in my perception I'm a good person because I don't bring nobody harm. Yeah good and bad are subjective.   Dusty's opinion" (yes he even referred to himself in third person haha)
Prescription and interpretation!!!!! Are the main things I took from this is, very interesting I thought to myself
But I did found this answer very interesting and only made me want to dig deeper into this paper
Theses answers made me contemplate the idea of maybe being a good person is always in someone else's head if whether or not you are a good person. As if what others think of you makes you good.( which is definitely not true) but for some people the weight of judgment carries heavy

As if pleasing somebody to make them happy and making them think you're a good person is what makes you a good person and reality it's  really just a false sense of hope, with the idea of someone else's thoughts driving your decision making and Persuading your own thoughts

Now there is a fine line between helping people because it's good for them or because you want to please them. As somebody who is a people pleaser and goes out of the way to help. I do this because it's the right thing to do, not for the pleasure of their thoughts...

The definition of good

Now I'm a very firm believer there is no evil without good there must be both, both must coexists unfortunately the discussion of this power balance continue here. For there is definitely more evil then good in this world, 

Not only people but the presence of darkness and the greed to take the apple will always be there. Perseverance and the willingness to be that good person is a  battle as old as time itself. Making a good or moral decision is not a straightforward, nor always a risk free one. Now The definition of good

Good-That which is considered morally right, beneficial and to our advantage.
