At first Ame's mother didn't like Ame's father. She thought that he was just a great chance to get her dad to stop setting her up on blind dates. During the whole engagement she stayed inside her room playing away and practicing her violin.
She was only 22 anyways so that's all she thought of. Even on her wedding day when the families joined together to take pictures she leaned over and whispered to Ame's father "don't get too close, it's only for pictures." Then she took out her music note book and started to jot down improvements to her sheet.
When they got sent off to the honeymoon, Ame's grandfather  grabbed the sheet music from Madeline before she left and told her "I think it's time to take a little rest." So for the whole plane ride there she was actually forced to speak to Ame's father. At first she thought that he was a very weird person. He could barely get any words out because he was so nervous. But when the flight attendants came out and asked what would he like for snacks he would speak clearly without problems. After a while Madeline just turned away and went to sleep for the rest of the plane ride there.
After arriving they stopped at a restaurant and picked out the menu items. Madeline just stared at Ame's father who started to stuff down every drop of food even though it just arrived. Then he picked up the huge bottle of alcohol and downed it in one gulp. Finally he opened his mouth after a while and started to slur his words saying "I-I thinkkk that you're very pwetty ever since we first got introduced; please don't don't hate me." Bam! He laid face flat on the table and began to snore.
I guess that made Madeline open up her heart more even though she had to carry him and call the taxi back to her hotel room. She even looked at him lovingly when everything that went inside of him spewed out on her favorite pants. Madeline was only 22 and never heard a true heartfelt confession at all so even if this marriage was forced, his confession felt amazing to hear.
