I wake up bright and early the next morning to start my full first day. I take a shower and pull my hair into a tight manageable ponytail before getting dressed. I opt for something worn and comfortable, and easy to move in. When I leave my room, I got to Embry's room first and woke her up. She sleeps curled up amongst her stuffed animals on her bed, the bed is huge compared to her size; and I'm sure it's not recommended for toddlers to sleep in full-grown adult beds, but it'll do for now.
"Good morning love bug," I say, stepping over to the bed. Embry yawns awake looking over at me tiredly. "We have a long day today!"
"What are we doing?" she chirps.
"Well first, we're going to try and get your brother out of his room, and then we're going to have breakfast altogether, and then go on a walk together—Sounds fun?" I question.
"Yes, yes!" she chirps.
"Alright let's get you up and dressed for the day, you won't feel productive in your PJs now will you," I say, helping the small girl out of the bed and taking her to the bathroom. I wash her off quickly, combing her hair down so that's it a side part and wavy next to her face. When I'm finished, we leave her room together, and I allow her to go into Orson's room first to make him less angry.
"Orson! Orson! Wake up!" Embry shouts, running over to the oversized bed and crawling in to wake Orson. I turn the lights on, shining over the mess that was Orson's room. "Orson!"
"Stop! Bry!" Orson whines, making the small girl pull away.
"It's my fault," I tell him. "I think it's a good idea if we have breakfast together, and have some fresh air," I tell him.
"I don't care what you think is a good idea," Orson scoffs, lying back in his bed. "Go away,"
"Fresh air is always a good idea," I tell him. "Now I suggest you shower and get downstairs—This is me being nice," I state.
"And what are you going to do?" Orson questions and he sits up staring at me.
"Do you want to find out?" I question, putting my hands on my hips. "I grew up with rowdy brothers' kid, I'm not afraid of a grumpy teen-year-old," I state, and he frowns.
"You don't understand," he says, before dropping back in bed. "I don't want to be around him," My heart twisted at the comment, and I swallow the knot in my throat.
"Your father isn't here right now, he left for work—It's just us," I state.
"He's not my father," Orson sighs before sitting up again. "I'll be down in 5 minutes," he sighs, helping Embry out of his bed.
"Good and is it okay that while we're on the walk someone comes here and cleans the room—Dirty room, equals dirty mind; you're never going to feel better if you stay like this," I tell him, repeating exactly what Casper had told me, after my breakup.
"I guess," Orson sighs, before shuffling into the bathroom.
"Alright Embry let's go see what's for breakfast," I say, holding my hand out for her. She rushes over to me, taking it and we leave Orson's room together, making our way downstairs. It was going to be hard to adjust to how massive the house is, and I can only imagine how many times I was going to get lost while I was here. Embry and I make our way downstairs, and I spot Jackie with her nose in a notebook. "Good morning, Jackie,"
"Morning Jackie!" Embry shouts after me.
"Morning girls," Jackie turns to us with a smile. "Up bright and early, that's nice," she smiles.
