"Soncerae Daniels?" I look up at the nurse standing in the doorway of the office. She has pink scrubs on and looks just as tired as I feel. I push out of the seat dropping the ragged magazine I was flipping through back down on the table. I shuffle around the table and follow the nurse out of the waiting room. She leads me down a hallway and we stop at a scale. "I just need to check your weight, blood pressure, and height," she tells me.

"Alright," I say.

"Please take off your shoes," she states. I kick my shoes off, stepping onto the scale, she bounces the square leveler back and forth, before writing something down on the clipboard. She guides me to the seat wrapping the blood pressure pump around my arm and taking the scale. She writes everything down. "You can put your shoes back on and join me in room 1A," she tells me.

I grab my sneakers slipping them back on before following her into the room. I sit down at the table. And the nurse sits across from me. "So, what brings you in today?"

"I uh—I've been Ill for the last few days," I tell her. "I can't keep down any food, and I've had a slight fever," I say.

"How slight?" she questions.

"Like 102," I say. "I just want to make sure that I'm not Ill or something, I'm around young kids often and I don't want to pass anything along," I say.

"Right, Right—Well first I just need you to pee in this cup," she says, spinning in her chair and grabbing a plastic medical cup. "Just leave it in the bathroom when you're done,"

"Oh—Okay," I say, sliding off the chair and grabbing the cup. I step into the bathroom, I've always hated peeing in the cup, they made it so small, and unlike men, girls couldn't aim their stream. When I finish, I wash my hands twice, leaving the cup on the counter before making my way back into the room and sitting down on the table. The nurse walks into the room and then steps out of the room.

While she's gone, I open my phone and I have a stream of missed messages from Casper, and from Misha. I was supposed to be a brunch with them and Mac. But I woke up this morning and for a full hour, I was glued to my toilet. And when I was finished, I felt like my body was on fire. I had to take an ice-cold shower to cool myself down and make it to the urgent care.

I call Casper back, laying back on the examination table. "Hello?" Casper questions. "Where were you, today babes? I thought we were going to get sushi!"

"I think I have the flu or something," I whine.

"The flu? Ew gross!" Casper says. "We were sharing drinks last night—Maybe you're just hungover,"

"I don't feel hungover—I'm at urgent care, don't tell Misha," I state.

"Urgent care!" Casper says.

"Calm down will you! I'm not in the emergency room," I state, sitting up on the table. "I've just been feeling ill for like a week now, and this morning I felt like I was going to melt,"

"Okay well—Do you want me to pick you up? Did you take the bus to urgent care?" Casper questions.

"I took an uber, calm down," I say.

"I'll pick you up, we just got back from sushi, and Mac and Misha are smoking on the balcony bring it out," Casper says. "They won't even know I left,"

"Don't tell them where I am," I say. "I don't want Misha to worry,"

"You're sicky secret is safe with me, just send me your location," Casper says.
