I am going to do a rewrite eventually.

-------------------

Waking up I feel a rustic taste on my tongue as well as a hard stone feeling beneath me. Lifting up my back I find myself sitting on the floor. Looking around quickly I recognise where I am. The old man's dimension.

A familiar laugh rushes to my ears like it's pray. It's delivery is as nails to a chalkboard. My body locks up. Around me the dark green walls and black substance confirms everything.

Getting up onto my feet with my bones aching at the effort, I am once again forced to choose between corridors. Turning left to my 7o'clock I unshakingly walk through the abyss, just to be spit back out, I walk through the opposite one again being placed back again to the opposite corridor. Realizing I am going in a loop I head through one on my right.

Now I find myself at a 4 way crossroads, the walls and floor are made from tile. Looking around me I head left. Finding another crossroad I realize I've been placed in another maze. Heading back I recall some advice that a maze exit is always found by sticking to the right.

Right, right, deadend, back and then right, right, right, right, deadend, back and head to what would have previously been the middle. On and on. The whole time my mind becomes cluttered, how did this happen? How did I get back here... and 049... 049! Oh my god.

How? Why? Why did this happen? How did he find me again? I must... I must get out, find 049... I did it before.

After some time of wandering the floor collapses from under me. I guess he wasn't satisfied with how I played his game.

Landing down painlessly on my face I notice I've landed in dirt. Looking upwards I find myself, again, in the trenches. I walk through the terrain, with those one-eyed airplane-like creatures overhead. All that runs through my mind is 049. Why? Why take me again now? I still have so much left to say to him. I cannot leave him now.

Did he truly forgive me for it? For stabbing him? Can we really work it out?

Having traveled the linear path I find a deadend accompanied by that sinister laugh, rattling my heart. Not yet defeated, I begin to hear gunshots, foolishly climbing up to investigate. I discover in the distance, a barbed fence and in front of it some type of dark jagged structure firing toward me. Headed back down I feel a bullet whiz straight past my head.

A few seconds go by with uninterrupted fire above, before bullet chains begin to split and shift from opposite sides of each other. There must be a pattern to this. Headed back up I notice as the bullets continue to spread stopping at other trenches. Seeing opportunity I hop up and sprint dropping down another trench as two bullets fly by at both sides of me. I crash down onto what feels like a person. Lifting myself up I notice it to be a corpse. And they are not alone. Surrounding me in this hole are three or more mutilated corpses. A meer gag escapes me, have I seen this a few days ago I'd have passed out then and there.

Swiftly regaining my composure I look back up, like clockwork they depart. Climbing over again, I find now that there are a large number of corpses littered above the trenches too. On repeat I go up and under, eyes often glued on the dead which reek of stale air. In the distance toward the fence a light illuminates a man entangled in barbed wire.
