BEYONCÉ

First, I was walking down the street to my bus stop blasting Toni Braxton in my ears and paying more attention to my fingernails I stepped down from the sidewalk to cross the street. Suddenly an aggressive pull to the back of my shirt, other than almost making me fall backward, made me stop completely. I looked up, to glare at the person who grabbed me but a van zooms past me rolling past a red light at incredibly illegal speeds, almost crushing me completely. Before I could even turn around the person behind me rushes past me while cursing to herself. I take a deep breath and sigh to myself before touching the back of my neck where she pulled my shirt, I looked at my fingers to see a little blood, she scratched me with her nail while saving my life.

Next, I was working my shift at Popeyes after quickly becoming irritated at the customer who was giving me attitude. I girl walked up to the counter, she only wanted a sandwich, I took it down and told her the price, she looked familiar but I didn't act on my suspicion because I just wanted to go home. Oddly she paid in far more than enough change and poured it into my hand quickly. "Keep the change." She said with her head down. I rolled my eyes what am I supposed to do with like two dollars? She took her sandwich and I watched her leave, immediately she gave it and some money to a homeless woman. Hours later I was walking down my street to my bus stop when I realized I lost my wallet, this day is not going my way. But instead of walking, I remembered I had money from the woman in the restaurant. It was exactly enough for both bus rides, almost like she did it on purpose. I take the bus home.

After that, I was sitting next to a girl in calculus, this time I knew it was the same girl from the street and work but I figured those were coincidences. I reached over to touch her exposed elbow to get her attention. She moved though and handed me a number two pencil and two sheets of paper. I only wanted the pencil but before I could ask about it the teacher made us all take out paper and I don't have some of my own. This is getting creepy. "Yo, how'd you know?" I whispered to her. She just shook her head and ignored me by diverting her eyes and attention to the front of the room.

Finally, I was on the bus and she was sitting in the back with headphones in, she was fast asleep and cuddled into the corner of her seat. I've been taking this bus since I was a kid, I've seen so many faces but never hers, she's been on this bus for a long time so I stand to ask where her stop is. Hopefully, she doesn't react the same way she has the last couple of times I've tried to interact with her. We go to the same school and she goes to Popeyes a lot even though she doesn't seem to like it. At this point, it would be more convincing if she was buying lunch for the homeless because I've never seen her eat anything except fries if her friend is there. She was often there on my shifts and she only seems to hang out with that one friend. Her name's Lauren and unlike her friend, she seems to have no problem talking to me. I tap her on the shoulder and she doesn't move, oddly in Texas weather, her body is still almost completely covered up, not that I was looking. "Hey, hey wake up." I shake her. I don't notice the bus stopping and me completely missing my stop. Finally, she wakes up and looks at me, her eyes immediately drop but then go back up. She blushed hard and put her glasses, which were sitting folded in her hand, on.

"Yes?" She asked quietly.

"I just wanted to know which stop you were on, this bus has been driving for a while," I answered.

"Oh- Uhm, this one?" She looks around and answers before shuffling past me to wait at the door. I shrug it off feeling more skeptical than usual, I assume she has a crush on me, which wouldn't be that weird but why does she act that way? Before exiting on what she tried to convince me was her stop she yelled thank you to the bus driver before walking off.

Today a couple of days after I see on the news that the same street my bus stop is on was shot up. Now I'm racking my brain for a reason as to why or how she could've known there was going to be a shooting. I couldn't dismiss this, the others just seemed like one-off occurrences, hell maybe she's fucking the math teacher and he told her the lesson, but there's no explanation for this. As the period ends and we're leaving the class I follow her, I don't care if I'll be late. This has flooded my brain all day. Once given the opportunity I push her into the non-binary bathroom and lock the door. I know this may be inconvenient to non-binary students but this is more important than their bladders.

"The van, the bus, the pencil, the shooting. I can't be going crazy, you're always there to save me whenever something bad might happen. What's your deal?" I ask her while holding for shoulders making sure she doesn't leave until she answers me.

"You don't look where you're going, and I just have quick reflexes. I didn't count exactly how much change I was giving you I just wanted lunch. If you didn't bring a pencil to school you definitely didn't bring extra paper. And it's not my fault I fell asleep." She said giving me reasoning for each occurrence in a monotone voice. It sounded like she rehearsed, she wasn't even at all shocked that a random girl was yelling in her face after pulling her into a bathroom. She has to be a witch or something.

"I'm not a witch, you're just stupid." She said I know for a fact I didn't say that out loud.

"You know what fine. Go." She finally let her shoulders down and she unlocks the door, before she can leave I make sure she's not looking and snatch her wallet from a pocket in her bag. I know this is wrong but I need to know she's not lying. I put her wallet into my locker and lock it making sure she's not anywhere near me. If I come back and it's not there somethings up. And if I'm wrong I'll just put it on her desk or something. Finally, almost twenty minutes late I walk to English.

"Ms. Knowles. Do you have an explanation for your tardiness?" Mr. Robinson asks me.

"I was in the bathroom," I say to him. Technically I'm not lying.

"For twenty minutes?" He asks.

"Yup," I say while finding a seat next to Lauren. He rolls his eyes and continues teaching.

"Hey. Why were you in the bathroom with Onika?" Lauren asks from beside me.

"Who?" I whisper.

"The short girl you were in the bathroom with." She explains.

"I just wanted to ask her a question," I say. How did she even know I was in the bathroom with that girl?

"Just leave her alone. You should be happy she saved you, I wouldn't have." She said whispering the second half.

"What?" I ask.

"Nothing." She responds.

"Ms. Knowles, it's one thing to show up to my class late but now that you're here you won't even shut up so others can learn. If you're going to continue being disruptive it would be best if you left, your grades might not appreciate that though." Mr. Robinson explains so that everyone in the class knows my business.

"My greatest apologies Mr. Robinson...jackass," I say while whispering the last word. He nods and continues. At the end of the day, I finally check my locker just as I suspected there was no wallet and my lock is on a different number than before. What the hell is going on?

This is an idea for a new book. Please comment if you like it or it might be something you'd wanna read. If I do decide to make a book don't expect it to be very good I literally forgot how to spell my name yesterday. Also, there might be a Mine update today as well but i don know.

Also, TWO FUCKING THOUSAND READS OMGG, I don't even know two thousand people I audibly gasped when I saw the number y'all giving me the biggest ego.

Anyways love y'all and thank you so much for reading. Have a good day ❤️👍🏾👍🏾
