I had lost interest

In a number of things;

What once gave me happiness

Eventually meant nothing.

My eyes once shone

With curiosity and hope,

An eagerness to learn

About the ways of this world.

Then I learned the truth

That this life is not merely cheese fondue;

You know how the saying goes

You feel sadder as your knowledge grows.

If only I could go back in time

To the peaceful nights

Where I felt safe and sound,

As if nothing could bring me down.

Given that my wish could not be granted,

I was bleeding and shaken;

I faced each and every tribulation,

Albeit with sadness and trepidation.
