Star Child
The rays of sunshine poured through the dark long draped curtains hanging over the windows. Although the sun was coming up it was still fairly early. To the right of the window a skeleton was bundled up in a blanket snoring soundly, they seemed comfortable enough to sleep in if they could but that, however, would not be the case. They rested with an arm covering their eyes dressed in a plain black t-shirt and some long midnight colored pajama pants bundled away from the cold.
As the sunshine eventually grew it shone over the skeleton's face. They scooted without hesitation over to the other half of the bed which was empty and even more comfortable than the previous spot. They murmured quickly complaining about the bright sun as they pulled the blanket over their head allowing them to curl right back under the covers. But unfortunately just as Cross dozed off again the door creaked open by an inch or so revealing an eye peeking through the small crack. They seemed to be looking into the room for something.
A small pair of hands slowly pushed the door open just enough for them to squeeze through, they weren't very strong but made-do as best as they could. They closed the door behind them being as quiet as possible, then pitter-pattering their way to the bed where Cross was sleeping. The small figure looked up at the seemingly tall bed which looked impossible to climb, their expression gave a discouraged look but they would figure out a plan.
In a closet behind them a shoe box peeked through, with a small excited gasp they ran to grab the box which would hopefully help them reach the top of the mattress.
The box wasn't too heavy, inside was a small collection of knives that Cross had been collecting for longer than he could remember and although it looked interesting it didn't interest the small skeleton. With small huffs they succeeded to eventually push the whole box to the foot of the bed and step over top of it to gain some height. Still though, the bed was inches taller. Though the height of the bed scared the young skeleton he wouldn't let it get the best of him, out of nowhere he seemed to summon enough courage to jump with as much power as they could and grasp at the bed sheets and pull. After some struggle he finally succeeded in making it to the top.
The skeleton landed with a plop on top of the bed, huffing tired from pulling but happy to have finally made it up and. Slowly sitting up they crawled forward inching closer to Cross. The young toddler sat with a smile keeping their giggles quiet while watching Cross snore quietly.
Slowly the 4 year old tapped Cross's hand, being gentle, as he waited for his dad to wake up.
Cross felt the small taps on his arm making him lift his arm up gently to look over at his son. He was still a bit sleepy but nonetheless, Cross was happy to see him. He smiled at the little prince, "Good Morning kid, where were you so early?" his toddler looked at him with a smile, "Morning! I was down the hall with my uncle. He was awake" Cross stretched lazily still laying in bed but giving his full attention to the young kid, "Really? and what did you two do?'' The 4 year old thought for a bit trying to remember, "He let me stamp some letters, with a little circle thing". The little prince made a circle with his hands showing his dad what it looked like. Cross chuckled at the cute little expression on the kids face, he wouldn't trade this for the world, " I'm glad you had fun for a bit, how about we go get breakfast? Maybe Uncle Nightmare wants to join us too" the toddler nodded excitedly, standing up with enthusiasm, "I'll go get him!!" Cross watched as the small prince slid off the bed, onto the box of tools, and out the door to get Nightmare to join them for breakfast.
Cross chuckled, "What am I gonna do with you Rey?". Finally getting enough energy to sit up, Cross stretched one more time before standing up and fixing up the bedroom. First, of course, was to fix the box back to where it belonged, since it was out of place, then redoing their bed so that it would be ready for later. He worked step by step till he finally set the last pillow back on the mattress. He had been thinking about Rey and how he was more than he could ever ask for. Ever since he and Dream had gotten the news of their kid they'd been waiting to have him here in their arms.
