You were now in the sewers, Wedge was there waiting for the five of you to arrive. "Looks like we made it. And with nothing but a few scratches to show," Barret says proudly, before sparing Jessie a glance, "think you might've overdone it?" Jessie shook her head to the question, "I followed every question to the letter. Maybe it triggered a reaction with the mako?"
"It didn't, it has nothing to do with the bomb or the mako."
Everyone freezes, including Cloud. You finally said something. All attention was on you, "remember Jessie when I was frantically typing away codes right before the ground had shook." Jessie slowly nodded her head unsure. You reach out a hand as a gesture, "there had been a sent command for every machine in the reactor core's area to go haywire. That's what caused the increased explosion. If anything the bomb was slightly more powerful than what was needed." Barret frowns and points his gun hand at you, "and how would you know that." Cloud steps in front of you, arm hovering in front of your chest, "watch it."
You lift up your hand and lower his arm softly, you look at everyone around you. Before slowly lifting down your hood. Gasps sounded and echoed through the sewer's corridor. Avalanche gasped, staring at you. Barret 's veins popped on his forehead once again, "Shinra's daughter." You nod your head, "correct."
Cloud stared at you, unsure if this was a good move. You look at Wedge before going onto Biggs and then Jessie and finally Barret. Your face screamed power and elegancy. "The entire story is complicated. If you trust me enough I will explain the story behind this," you tell them. "(Y/N)-" Cloud starts. You held up your hand to quickly silence him, before looking at him, 'trust me' was what your eyes seemed to tell him. He stiffens but nods before looking at the rest. Jessie laughs, "well it all makes sense now. Why you didn't talk at all and why you were so knowledgeable about the reactor." Your eyes widen at her reaction. She walks towards you and places her hands on your shoulders. "Glad you could join us! I welcome you with open arms!" she says.
"Jessie-" Biggs says. Jessie silences him, "a-ta-ta-ta, if she was harmful she would've lead us somewhere other than the reactor and besides, she took down the guards herself. Also if she was an actual threat she wouldn't have let us blow up the reactor and would've killed us long ago." You smile in appreciation, now you felt a tiny bit guilty of disregarding her earlier on. A bit. Barret scoffs, "whatever. But make one wrong move. And-"
You raise an eyebrow, cutting the man off from his threat, "and what?" To which Barret stilled and scoffed, yet he didn't finish his sentence and Wedge took over, attempting to rid the air of the sudden awkwardness. "Well anyways, glad to have you...er...how should I address you?" he asks. You send him a soft smile, "(Y/N) is fine, just like last time." You notice the hesitancy in the four's body language. It was understandable. Not everyone is like Cloud, that you understood. Yet the heavy silence was indeed bitter.
Beneath you the ground shook as the entire group including you lose your balance. "We should get going," Biggs urged the rest. To which everyone else nodded and waited for Wedge to lead the way. "Follow me!" he jokingly commanded the rest. And slowly, you noticed the ice begin to melt, so much so you almost let your shoulders drop. In front of you were the Avalanche members, only Cloud behind you. "You alright?" he questioned. You nodded slightly in assurance, "I believe so. They're a good bunch, they don't mean any harm." The only response you got was a soft grunt. "Are we heading to Sector 7?" you asked the man. "That's the plan," he answered, pausing slightly in hesitation before he continued his sentence. "Tifa will be there."
You turn your head back to meet with Cloud's eyes, "I'm looking forward to meeting her." You had turned your head back to its normal position before you could see Cloud's stilled expression. A hint of panic flashed in his eyes before it returned back to its impassive appearrance. "How much farther do we need to go?" you hear Jessie call out. "Not far!" Wedge said.
