The sphere blasted the spikes out of existence. Astra leapt forward, slicing as she went.
"Don't think I haven't prepared for physical attacks," snarled Mira, blocking the spear with a sword of her own.
"I never said you hadn't," Astra replied, blasting a laser at Mira with the sphere.
Mira sent the laser into a small portal and felt a tingling sensation. She leapt aside as a column of white materialized where she'd just been standing.
"Very clever," she hissed, sending spikes shooting out of the ground at Astra.
Astra transformed her weapon into a claymore and hacked at the spikes, cutting off the tips. Mira came up behind her and tried to punch her in the back, but light energy shot out of Astra's body, forcing Mira back.
"Is that all you've got?" Astra asked, hurling a giant energy ball at Mira.
"You belittle my strength," Mira said through clenched teeth as she dodged the ball and shot at Astra with a finger gun.
They continued sparring, parrying, dodging each other's attacks. Finally, Mira outsmarted Astra by grabbing her own spike, swinging around and kicking Astra. Astra fell, black smoke curling off her cheek.
"Too bad," Mira said with mock sympathy, "Guess I gave you everything I got."
"You... you don't have to do this," Astra croaked.
"Actually yes, I do." A sword appeared in Mira's hands. "Say goodbye, sister."
Astra gasped as the blade passed clean through her chest.
"No!" someone yelled.
Mira looked up just in time to be sucker-punched in the face by Second.
