Liv dragged herself back to the cave entrance. Bits of paint were slowly peeling themselves free of her, revealing more and more of the hideous red beneath.

As she reached the put-out fire, she caught sight of a slip of paper tucked under the log the siblings had been sitting on the last time she'd seen them.

She picked it up and straightened it out.

"Dear Liv,

"Sorry for leaving without telling you, but we really needed to get a move on. Some of our friends have been corrupted, and we need to go and rescue them. Hope you'll understand.

"Yours sincerely,

"Bit & Lorona."

A strange smile flitted across Liv's face.

"Corrupted, you say? Guess that makes sense, considering all the disappearances in the villages lately. Annoying creatures. They won't get away when they've messed with Liv's friends. Not now, not ever."

All the blue paint scattered into the wind as Liv's eyes lit up with white-hot fire.
