Rainbow stemmed the flow of her laser as Astra and Orbertune rushed past her to intercept SciGoggle and Cytrik, each taking on one of the hostile sticks.
Orber grabbed his blue orb and sent an electric blast at Cytrik, then made quick work with him by grappling him over and punching him into a tree.
Astra blasted SciGoggle with pure energy, forcing him onto the ground. SciGoggle quickly got up and zoomed around Astra, stopping behind her to slice her with his sword. An invisible barrier forced the blade to a stop.
"What the-" SciGoggle muttered before Astra kicked him into the tree next to Cytrik's.
Astra conjured a glowing spear and pointed it at SciGoggle. "Explain," she demanded, "Why were you attacking the Second Coming?"
"Uh, guys?" Second ran forward. "Thanks for saving me and all, but don't kill them; we aren't here to do that."
"Yeah, right," SciGoggle muttered.
"Hey!" Astra nudged SciGoggle with her spear.
"Okay, enough." Second stepped closer. "Bumping into you was an accident, alright?" he told SciGoggle, "I was just coming back from a visit."
"A visit to who?"
"My animator. Is there a problem?"
"Um... no."
"Alright, so now that we're all cooled down, how about we get to know each other? I assume you all already know my name?"
Everyone nodded.
SciGoggle sighed. "Fine. I'm Xer, and, um... apologies for misjudging you."
"It's fine."
"This here is Cytrik, my travel partner." Cytrik waved.
"'Kay." Orbertune cleared his throat. "I'm Orbertune, but you can just call me Orber. This is Rainbow-" He gestured at Rainbow. "And this is Astra." He pointed at Astra.
"Astra..." The name seemed otherworldly to Second.
"What?" Astra turned to him.
"Nothing, nothing."
"Hmph." Astra crossed her arms.
"Um... okay, so what are you all doing here?" Second tried to change the subject.
"In fact, we were looking for you," Orber explained, "Rainbow, Astra, and I."
"For what reason?"
"Rainbow and I wanted to join you, after we heard about the Resurrection War. As for Astra..." He glanced over at the stick.
"I heard you were having some trouble with a certain corruption, and I volunteer to help."
"Um... most of the corrupted sticks are my friends, so if you're considering-"
"What? No!" Astra gave a small laugh, her halo flickering. "I cure them, not kill."
"Oh. Okay." Second's face reddened a little.
"So... where's the base?" Cytrik blurted out.
"About two hundred miles in that direction." Second pointed.
Cytrik's jaw dropped. "Two hundred?!"
"That's easily done." Astra stepped forward. "Everyone gather round."
"Uh... what are you doing?" Second asked.
Astra gave him a look that read "Follow my lead."
The sticks all huddled together, and Astra closed her eyes. A luminescent yellow ring encircled them. It grew brighter and brighter until the world around them became pure white. When it cleared, they were standing outside the back door of Second's base.
Second was about to ask, "How did you-" when he noticed movement in an upstairs window. He grabbed Astra's arm and pointed.
Astra narrowed her eyes. "Are you serious?"
The corrupted had infiltrated the base.
