When Mandy went out to hunt that morning, she did NOT expect to come home to the smell of an Omega in heat. The scent was sickly sweet to her sensitive nose, so she dropped her kill and padded over to her front door. Nosing it open, there in the middle of her furs rolling around, groaning, was an Omega she'd seen a few times. Her hair wasn't white yet; it was still strawberry blonde, so she must have just presented.

Then there was Kat, a Beta based on her grey hair. Mandy didn't know much about the Beta other than she was ferociously protective of her little sister. She'd seen them both trying and, more often than not, failing to hunt for food. Kat stood between her and the Omega, saying, "Please shift. We need help."

So Mandy did. She shifted and got dressed. "Why are you here? How could you bring an Omega in heat to an unmated Alpha? You better thank the moon that I'm not into force or women."

"That's why we came to you; we aren't safe back home. If our father finds out she finally presented, it's over."

"Fine, you can stay here. But I don't know how long I'll even be here; if that stupid pup presents as an Alpha, then I'm leaving because I'll be damned if I'm forced into mating with anyone, let alone a child who probably can't even hunt to save his life."

Kris started to whine, making Mandy release her calming pheromones before she realized it. But it worked; the Omega went back to sleep. 'We are never getting that smell out of the furs.'

Her wolf wasn't wrong. No amount of washing and scenting would get the smell of heat out enough for it not to bother her. She's never been attracted to Omega scents, but Kris's overwhelming cherry scent was gag-worthy. The only thing keeping the Alpha from vomiting was Kat's calming scent of lime.

People used to laugh at Mandy because she was a redheaded Alpha with amber eyes instead of the typical Black hair and red eyes of others. But add in her scent of apples, and people hated her. She was an Alpha that shouldn't exist, but the prospect of getting a true blood out of her was too good to let her live her life. "I caught food. Let me go take care of it, and I'll start dinner."

There was no way she could stay in that small space with that scent, and puking in front of an Omega would only upset them. Omegas are very sensitive about their scent; if an Alpha doesn't like it, they take it personally.

They were fine for three months; no one ever came near her home; she ensured that by marking her territory within an inch of its life. But then the envoy came. Announcing that if Mandy didn't surrender herself for the kidnapping of two unmated wolves and give herself over to the newly presented Alpha, she'd be killed.

"We can't leave with them; if we do, then...Kat, what do we do?"

"I don't know," she started to tear up. Winter was almost there, and they couldn't survive on their own. The Alpha had done a great job teaching them to survive, but they couldn't handle themselves for long without her.

Mandy stood up, "okay, we'll come with you. Will you allow me to pack our things inside since I assume you don't want us to return?"

"You have five minutes," Head Alpha Han replied in a bored tone. "No funny business. You will mate my son and provide heirs, and those two inside will be given to him as well." Mandy scowled. She had nothing against multiple mates as long as everyone wanted that. It was when it was forced that she had an issue.

Kris was practically vibrating in fear. "She wouldn't do that, would she? Just give us to them."

"I don't know," Kat whispered. "But I don't think she would. She has to have a plan. She has to have prepared for something like this."

Mandy stomped into the cabin, "grab anything you can carry in wolf form," she whispered as she moved the furs a bit. "It's dark and cold down there, wet in some places. But it's our only escape. You can come with me or go back, but they aren't taking me alive, that's for damn sure."

Kat snapped, grabbing a leather bag and putting everything she could into it before she shifted it around her neck. Kris did the same, and then they went into the dark hole. Once Mandy closed the hidden door behind them, she shifted, and then they took off.

'Wow, she wasn't kidding. It's fucking dark in here. OMG, something peed on me.' Kat mentally told her wolf to shut up since nothing actually peed on them, but her wolf has always been slightly dramatic.

They walked and ran for what felt like hours, by the time they finally got to the end. Mandy shifted and climbed out. It was nighttime. Kat pulled clothes out, getting her and her sister dressed, while Mandy dug around in an old fallen tree, pulling out several bags before getting dressed. "Okay, so we have enough food for maybe three days. Hopefully, I can hunt. But I'm going that way." She motioned towards the mountain in the distance.

On the eighth day, they were starving, dirty, and desperate to find a place. What made it even worse was that Kris was in pre-heat, putting both Mandy and Kat on edge. Neither was in their best form to fight off any rogue Alphas they might encounter. Kat shifted back, plopping down on the ground. "Well, at least we outran winter; why is it so warm here? I thought the mountains would be colder."

Kris shifted and collapsed onto the soft grass, whining, while Mandy had her nose to the ground, sniffing something, ears alert. She growled, her fur standing up a bit as she stood in front of the other two when an overzealous Omega crashed into the clearing, screaming, "Mate!"
