"I refuse to believe that."

Takemichi's eye twitches, deadpanning at a pouty Chifuyu.

"So you believe all about me time traveling," He grabs messy blonde strands, ruffling his poofy hair. "but you draw the line at murder?"

Just as Chifuyu gives a decisive nod, Takemichi hides his face in his hands.

The warmth oozing out of the empty cup of noodles between them, dissipates. It's then that the former leans back, huffing.

"Let's say she murders her mom." Lifting a single brow, he tilts his head to the side, arms crossed. "That would make her a real bad person."

Takemichi hums, letting the lower part of his arms rest on his lap. His hands dangle from the limit of his thighs, forcing him to hunch.

"So, we'd have to go against her," Chifuyu tones his voice down to a harsh whisper. "like she's evil or something."

Takemichi agrees again, biting the inside of his cheek at Chifuyu's sharp brows.

"Yeah," He rests his head on his arms crossed behind him. "no way."

"What?" Takemichi yelps, piercing through Chifuyu's stare, itching to be reciprocated. He doesn't meet his eyes, bringing him to hold his head as he gives out a tight smile. "He's delusional."

The last statement is kept to himself, unaware of the questioning glint in Chifuyu's eyes once he finishes.

He laughs, muttering nonsense. It goes unnoticed by the boy beside him, who stomps on the floor with a huff.

"She might as well be the only girl I could have a chance with." His gaze trails downwards, gritting his teeth. "So I can't accept her being evil!"

Takemichi stares up at his friend, who leaves the bench with a hop. He takes small steps ahead, fists by his sides.

"Besides, even if she is." He puts weight on his last word, letting the cold breeze brush his bangs. "I'll be her savior!"

The light upon Chifuyu's eyes stands over the vast night over them. Takemichi's quivering smirk doesn't reach his eye, nor conveys the confidence Chifuyu's does.

"I'll tell her that it's wrong, that she's not the girl I know. Then," He lets out a content sigh, standing in silence before clapping his hands. It booms, echoing through the vacant street. "I confess my love and we live happily ever after."

From behind him, Takemichi shakes his head before pressing his hand against it. Sliding down to cover his mouth instead, he allows his thoughts to consume him as the fact that he can't handle it all begins to settle.

Blinking at a rapid face, he fights against the glaze over his eyes; stare switching between focusing on a single point or blurring altogether.

The urge to tug on his hair grows, willing to seek for any type of help that comes from it. The nonexistent comfort begins to catch up to him.

"Baji really liked her." Yet, he stops. He looks up at the boy in front of him, hands in his pockets. "He used to say she was a nobody before meeting her, funnily enough."

Takemichi can't see the kind of expression Chifuyu has on his face right now. But the fondness in which his voice is laced with as he talks can almost reach his hands and transfer a huge amount of trust.

"Then one day he just blurted out of nowhere that she's one of the best people he ever got to meet."

His heart beats against his chest, images of the boy he wasn't able to save flashing across his mind. Chifuyu's future; Kazutora's resolution.
