Elena's Point of View:

I had just checked on Alaric on the hospital and was walking out to the parking lot to my car when I saw Matt.

Matt had his hands in his pocket and looked worried, "How is Mr Saltzman?"

I sighed, "Resgined to spending the night in observation so long as I promise to change the lock on the house. So I talked to Bonnie earlier. She and her mom are fine. Have you talked to Caroline?"

Matt nodded, "Yeah she's fine. She's holding it together, considering how close she and her dad used to be. Any word on who's behind these attacks?"

I shook my head, shrugging my shoulders. "Sheriff Forbes says there are no suspects at all." I started walking with Matt beside me towards his car, "How are you dealing with all this? I mean, you keep getting dragged into this." I cannot begin to imagine what he must be going through. He didn't deserve any of this.

He shrugged his shoulders. "Honestly...I'm kind of lucky, the only thing I have to worry about for tomorrow, is showing up for my shift at the grill."

We had reached his car and I smiled, reassuringly opening the door for him. "Thank you for everything today."

"Get home safe." He said before getting into his car and driving off.

"Thanks" I nodded and sighed, and walked to my car. I turn the car on, and started to reverse, when I heard a thud sound. Had I driven over something? I got out of the car and checked the bumper. I frowned once more when I saw nothing there. No mark, no scratch. All of a sudden I was pinned to the side of my car.

"Drive much?" She said.

I groaned. "Rebekah."

"Surprised? You drove a dagger through my back, Elena. It hurt." She glared at me.

Rebekah's veins and fangs appeared, and started to lean forward. I screamed only to be saved by Elijah who pulled Rebekah away.

Rebekah growled, disappointed she didn't get to carry out her planned revenge. "Elijah."

Elijah wasn't in the mood to deal with anything today, obviously. "Leave."

Rebekah took a step forwards and Elijah frowned. "Are you challenging me?"

Rebekah turned to face Elijah. "You're pathetic. Both of you." She said before disappearing.

Elijah turned to face me. "Well...I believe we have a little catching up to do."

[GILBERT HOUSE, KITCHEN]

I leant on the kitchen counter. "It was their mother Esther who was sealed in that coffin."

Stefan looked confused. "As in the original witch?"

Damon was more confused."What? How is she even alive? Though her hybrid freak show of a son ripped her heart out a thousand years ago.

I shrugged. "I don't know. I'm guessing she has a couple of connections in the witching community. Elijah said that she wants to live in peace with her family, including Klaus."

Stefan groaned. "She was supposed to be the weapon to help us kill Klaus."

I sighed, "Well, not anymore...at least not according to Elijah."

Stefan was a little angry. "The coffin was the only thing stopping Klaus from tearing us to shreds." Of course, Stefan was on route killing Klaus.

Damon frowned. "Anyone else feeling a little used right now?"

I sighed, "Look, Elijah promised me that his family wouldn't hurt any of us."

Before anyone could respond, the doorbell rang. "I believe him" I stated before going to open the door and found an envelope. I looked at it while walking back to the kitchen.

Damon frowned, "What is it?"

I opened it, "It's an invitation. 'Please join the Mikaelson Family, this evening at seven o'clock. For dancing, cocktails and celebration."

Stefan was more confused, "Who the hell are the Mikaelsons?"

"The original family." I responded, bluntly. As if it wasn't obvious already.

Damon growled, "It's not bad enough they're moving into town, now they want a housewarming gift?"

I put the envelope in my pocket, as it had another letter just for me and turned the actual invite over. "Wait, there's a note on the back. 'Elena, I think it's time that we finally met'." I re-read the note before looking up at the the two of them, "If Esther wants to talk to me, maybe I should find out why."

Damon rolled his eyes, "Well that's a dumb idea, she already tried to kill you once."

Stefan was looking at Damon, disagreeing, "No Elena is right. Bonnie was left to open that coffin for a reason. I think there is more to this than just some family reunion."

Damon shifted his weight, "Can we go back in time where the old Stefan cared if Elena lived or died?"

Stefan smirked, "What for? It's your job now."

I decided to interrupt, not wanting them to argue even more. We had more pressing matters to deal with, "Stefan has a point, Damon. I should find out what she wants."

Damon growled again, "You can't protect yourself."

Stefan shrugged, "Okay fine, then I'll go."

Damon was adamant, "You've pissed off enough Originals to last a lifetime. I'll go." He snatched the invitation out of my hand.

"Hey!" I was annoyed but at least he didn't have the note from Kol to me.

"End of story." Damon said walking out with Stefan.

I went upstairs, angry with Damon and Stefan. I could handle myself, and besides if Esther wanted to hurt me, she would have gone a different route. I pushed my door open and stopped as I saw a box on the bed. I went over to it and opened it. I gasped in shock. It was a dress, for the ball I am guessing. I smiled knowing who it was from.

"I was choosing between that one and a short black dress. I went for this one, although I am beginning to think I made the wrong choice." Kol smirked, walking up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist.

Damon and Stefan didn't know about my secret relationship with Kol, and I intended to keep it that way. If anyone found out, Kol would be dead and I would lose all my friends.

I smiled. "Maybe, I can wear this one at the ball, and I can wear that one at the after party?"

He frowned and titled his head, confused, "After party?"

I nodded and turned around to face him, wrapping my arms around his neck. "Yeah, I thought me and you were having an after party at my lake house?"

He smiled, finally realising at what I was getting at and kissed me softly. "Won't the Salvatores worry about your whereabouts?"

I rolled my eyes, "The Salvatore's can worry all they like." I smiled and kissed him deeply, pulling him closer. He kissed me back and pressed me up against the wall, moving down my neck, playfully nipping at my neck. I moaned and squirmed. I felt Kol smile against my skin, he knew I was ticklish. I punched him playfully. He pulled away and pouted. I pecked his lips.

"I have a ball to get ready for, so please excuse me." I smile cheekily, pecking his lips again. I kiss down his neck before pulling his shirt off. Kol wrapped his arms around me, and held me close before laying me on my bed and hovering over me.
