It'd been about a year since Will had returned. The entire party had hoped everything would go back to normal, but they knew it couldn't. After everything, nothing would be the same.
Will would get flashbacks, or as the party called them, episodes, from the Upside Down. He was getting help for them, but nothing seemed to work. Even though Will rarely talked about it, it was clear how much he was struggling.
Being at school didn't do him any good, either. Now, they were in eighth grade. People at school had still been picking on the party, even Troy and James, despite what Eleven had done to them. Students had also been calling Will 'zombie boy' and leaving rude notes in his locker.
Mike had changed a lot, too, mostly because of El. Everyone missed her a lot, but he was taking it the hardest. He was acting out was really irritable. He even cursed out his teachers on a few occasions.
Because of everything, Sam felt more alone than she had before. When she came back to school, she had more scars than she had the year before, so people constantly stared and made fun of her. She never told anyone how bad it really was, because she felt like she couldn't. Everyone was still going through a lot, so Sam didn't want to 'burden' them with her problems.
Little did she know, she was about to meet someone who would change absolutely everything.
