A Road Is Just A Dream That Has No End

Chapter Twelve.

Chanyeol slowly wakes up from his sleep when the soft sunlight beams on his face. He squints his eyes from the blinding ray and turn to his right only to realised Kyungsoo isn't next to him; it area where he slept last night has gone cold. Chanyeol looks around and he met up with an empty room instead.

"There you are, I thought you've left me." He sighs in relief when he found him outside the patio, enjoying a warm drink. Kyungsoo turns to him, dressed in a loose rob the resthouse has provided. He looks ethereal in it; with fair skin under the morning sun. It's like he's glowing and Chanyeol fall inlove over again.

He sit down beside him and listen to the faint sound of river streaming in the distant. It's a quiet morning, and he feel at peace for the first time in his life. "We're not having a one night stand, idiot. There's no way I can just leave you like that." Kyungsoo bump him playfully and they both laugh together. 

The morning serenity makes Chanyeol extremely happy and so he slowly takes Kyungsoo's hand and grip it firmly, "I can't believe this is finally happening. I've been inlove with you since forever." He brings the delicate hand up to his lips and kiss it tenderly. "I love you, Kyungsoo."

But what answers him is only silence; Kyungsoo says nothing. He kept his gaze on the forest ahead as he smiles. Chanyeol didn't mind, he didn't let go of that hand either. "I love you too, Chanyeol. In this lifetime, the next one and forever. I love you, and I'm sorry." Kyungsoo finally speaks but as he said the last word, he was tearing up. 

"Please don't say sorry, there's nothing to be sorry for." Kyungsoo only looks at him and thinks that he's cruel to keep this away from him, and thought no. He's not the cruel one, fate is.

Fate is indeed cruel. 

 Chanyeol arrived at the hospital, all soaked because of the heavy rain that suddenly poured when he decided to walk instead of bringing his car. Kyungsoo was nowhere to be seen. His calls weren't being picked up either, so he asked Baekhyun.

"Wait, what? You didn't know?" Baekhyun's eyes were bloodshot red, he seems like he just regained himself only to break again. "Chanyeol, are you serious?"

"What is it, Baekhyun?" Chanyeol's heart thumping so strong, it hurts. It hurts.

Baekhyun takes a deep breath, holding his tears but his voice is shaking when he say, "Kyungsoo's gone, Chanyeol. He's gone."

That morning, Do Kyungsoo was rushed to the hospital again because he passed out on the street. But only this time he didn't make it, it looks as if he has give up fighting with the way he was leaning on a secluded alleyway. Like he knows he's going to die but he didn't want people to help him this time. 

Fate was cruel, but love was way crueler and Do Kyungsoo was love to him.

During the funeral, Dr. Zhang hug him so tightly and Chanyeol cried on his arms, weak and helpless.

"He said he was sorry, and he loves you. But more than anything, he apologise for making this decision."

Dr. Zhang told him that Kyungsoo knows that he's going to die soon, and no surgeries can help him anymore. He doesn't want to bother his family financially especially his grandmother. He also met his parents and reconciled things with them, but still not saying that he's going away. 

"And that he called me while he stood under the huge tree, telling me that he's thankful for all the care I gave him, and told me to send his regards to all the hospital staffs, to Baekhyun, that had helped him live up until the day he could meet you again.

He told me that you may asked what he wished for, he didn't tell you that time, right? But he wanted me to tell you now."

"Park Chanyeol, I hope you'll live life to the fullest. I love you, I love you, I love you so much. Thank you and goodbye."
