A Road Is Just A Dream That Has No End

Chapter Seven

It was late at night when they finally arrived back at the hospital. Kyungsoo could still feel the surface of the lantern slipping away from his hand as he let it went to the sky. Soon after, they traced the lantern and picked it up when it finally fluttered down back to earth. Chanyeol insisted he keeps it just in case they need to fly it again.

The hospital is silent and dim when they walk through the hallway towards Kyungsoo's ward. He's a little surprise when it's actually calm and they weren't being chased on the fact they ran away illegally. "Am I not important that they didn't make a fuss about me running away?"

Chanyeol roll his eyes, "You are important but let's just say I actually explained to the staffs after I kidnapped you." Kyungsoo snort because that's so Chanyeol. His heart and manners are kind enough not to break any rules.

Just when they turn the corner to reach Kyungsoo's room, they could see someone is pacing back and forth infront of the door, face scrunching in anxious and furious; Kyungsoo's steps halt. "Dad."

Mr. Do heard his name called and looks up to see his son. His eyes goes teary and he sighs in full relief to finally see Kyungsoo. But when he notice Chanyeol standing beside, he instantly glare at him. "You!"

"Dad, no-"

"Do Kyungsoo, I was mad worried when you suddenly went missing. The staffs didn't even tell me where'd you gone! You are sick, Kyungsoo. You should look at yourself more! And you!" He march towards Chanyeol, ready to punch him, "How dare you took my son away?! Don't you aware of his condition?!"

Kyungsoo quickly stand before Chanyeol, defending him from his father. "Dad wait, I can explain!" But Mr. Do keeps reaching to Chanyeol, face red furiously.

"What kind of a doctor you are?!"

"Dad-"

Chanyeol step forward and gently pull Kyungsoo back, "Mr. Do, I can explain." He said calmly, trying to ease the angry man before him. He's obviously a head taller than him but he would gladly let Mr. Do punch him if he wants. He deserves it after causing a fuss and making Kyungsoo's family dead worried. He sees Kyungsoo's grandmother and mother peeking outside the room, tearing when they finally see him.

"Kyungsoo yah," Both the women runs to him, hugging and kissing him. It's clear that they all have been waiting anxiously for him and Chanyeol was the cause of it. He looks back to him as Kyungsoo shove both his mom and grandma away, struggling to hold Mr. Do away from Chanyeol.

"I don't want you near my son again, do you hear me?!"

"Dad, wait!" Kyungsoo cries out when Chanyeol didn't do anything to defend himself. He needs too, Kyungsoo needs him, Chanyeol must be here for him. He can't leave him. But he watch helplessly as his dad shove him and keep shoving Chanyeol away from them.

It's all too much for Kyungsoo to take, everything is happening too fast right now and the last thing he see is Chanyeol walking away. "Chanyeol, no, wait..." he calls weakly before he succumb in darkness.

He slowly adjust the blinding light as his eyes flutters open. He could hear hushes around him and his slow heart beats. As soon when he was more conscious, he could feel his lungs burning painfully and he gasp for air when the pain strikes him. He breaths harshly into the oxygen mask.

"Kyungsoo! Are you okay?!" Mrs. Do comes to his aid, stroking his hair comfortingly to calm him down. She begin to cry again as her tears fall to his cheek, "baby, breath slowly."

"Doctor, what's happening?" His father ask, panicked while he holds Kyungsoo's hand tightly. "You said he's already stable!"

Kyungsoo couldn't hear what the doctor says as he keeps gasping on air, pressing his chest down to ease the pain. His eyes water as he tries to hold on from the striking pain. He could feel his whole family around him; calling his name. But all he could feel is the pain and how he could just die now.

"Mom," he sobs, weakly turning his head to her, "it's too painful." Kyungsoo whisper as another tear fall down, "I'm tired mom.."

"Kyungsoo, honey.." Mrs. Do wipes his tears away, kissing his forehead gingerly. "You can do this, sweetheart. Hold on, Kyungsoo.. you're a," she hiccups in her words, "you're a strong boy aren't you?" She hugs him tightly as his chest rise up and down.

She gets pull behind from one of the nurses as the doctor checks on Kyungsoo. The nurse ask them to wait outside as his heart rate suddenly falls down.

"What's going on?" Mrs. Do ask anxiously while she fights her way, "what's happening to him?" But she didn't get any answer as she is push away outside the room along with her husband and mother. She quickly hug his husband because she couldn't face this now. "Please make Kyungsoo safe.." She begs with all her heart.

That night, Kyungsoo was transferred to the ICU room while his family could only look at him through the window.

Chanyeol stand behind all the time, guilt heavy on his chest. But he didn't leave and never leave because he has promised Kyungsoo that he will be there for him. So he waits and only watches him in silent, chanting a silent prayer for him to please, wake up, Soo. Please.

A/n: Hey everyone! Happy 8th anniversary to EXO. This is an update especially for today.. well, now that I think of it this update is kinda sad for a celebration isn't it? I know and I'm sorry... also I'm not satisfied with today's update since I was disturbed in my mid writing ugh :/ next one should be a good one I promise! Until then, stay safe and stay home everyone.
