Just hold me, I asked of you.
I love you, you told me.
I begged you to stop
Stop loving me, because I'm trying to stop loving you
We both knew we couldn't love each other without complication
We didn't know how to simply love without causing an issue
somewhere...and to someone
and that's why it hurt
Our window came and went
so we swayed while the latin band played
beneath the full moon and flickering stars
while our food sat on the table, barely touched
We savored this moment
for whenever our paths would cross again, this wouldn't happen
It would be completely platonic
and the urge we'd have for each other would be very faint
he'd probably be in love with another
and I would have finally moved on with someone new
As much as we wanted it to be forever
We were only meant for a season
And that is life
I swore not to grace those lips again
But I did
the next day
at the airport
Maybe it wasn't a goodbye, generally
But it was a goodbye to the great love we never closed the book on
With his hand on top of mine
We're turning the final page
with understanding smiles and tears
I'll see you around...and I love you too.
The end.
