The next few weeks saw me being very busy at school. We were beginning Sotus for the first years and there were alot of extracurricular activities attached to it.
On top of this, Dean wanted the Medical faculty to be at every event as we often had students who were injured. I had to delegate ICs from my hazing team; I took charge of the Sotus camp, Aim handled the hikes, Dean was in charge of the fundraising and Tew helped with the additional camping activities.
I had to go meet the Medic team Ic for the Sotus camp on Tuesday evening after classes. I didn't know whom it was and prayed fervently it be anyone but Beam.
But God definitely had no intentions of listening to me. Sitting there was the very devil. I sighed softly as I walked towards him, praying that he wouldn't give me a difficult time. Beam didn't see me yet. He was immersed in some studying. Just as I reached him, he looked up. His eyes furrowed abit when he realized it was me but to give him credit, he didn't say a word. He just watched as I made my way, greeted him and sat down.
"Hey. Thank you for volunteering your time. Shall we get started?"
"I'm not volunteering. Was threatened to be here or else I had additional credit to do. So let's continue."
I could see he wasn't going to make it easy for me. I took out my folder of notes and we went through the meeting agenda. Beam listened carefully. Anything to do with Medical - he refused every single one of my suggestions and had his own. It wasn't exactly out of the world but I knew inwardly the things he requested for was going to kick my budget for the event off the roof. I privately decided to foot the excess costs out of my own pocket so that everyone got the quality they deserved plus also making sure the Medic guys were in comfort.
The meeting took slightly over an hour but we completed everything on our agenda. Once we were done, Beam took his leave. I watched as he went, sighing softly. He wasn't exactly rude but I also realized he wasn't the friendliest.
I just looked at my folder of notes and rewrote everything down neatly. I realised I had to fork out about 470 baht from my own pocket to cover the additional costs which came about due to the additional Beam wanted. It also meant I better cut down on any leisurely activities and eating out for a few weeks. Plus I couldn't buy the gaming console I had saved up for as I was going to use part of the money from there.
Aish, this was abit more frustrating than I thought it would be but I kept quiet and decided to suck it up.
I threw myself into this event completely, planning all of the details to a T. I kept late nights but it was worth it as I could see the outline of the event bulding up. I had 2 more meetings with Beam over this and both were task oriented but not say, the friendliest.
However, as long as things were completed, I wasn't going to nitpick on this as Beam wasn't a friend and wouldn't be. Ever.
Period.
