The weeks flew by as we settled into a routine all over again. Kong juggled school, hazing, Sotus and also popping by to check on his dad.

I kept the same routine and always made sure to follow him when he visited uncle. We barely had time for what one would call dates but for him, spending time and for me, acts of service were our love language so being there for each other and being able to just see each other was something we cherished and it made us very happy :)

However, 1 weekend, we received a call from Auntie. Uncle's condition took a turn for the worse and he collasped at home. He was being rushed to the hospital. Both of us made our way to Chonburi. I held onto Kong's hands the entire time. He was just shaking quietly.

Just as we arrived at the hospital, his elder sister came out and stopped us from going further. His mother came out wailing hysterically. My eyes opened wide at this. Shit shit shit.

His sister held onto Kong and whispered something softly in his ears, like trying to prep him slowly. Kong collasped onto the floor, sobbing. I held onto him as he went down and I looked at his sister who shook her head grimly, sobbing too.

Mr Suthiluck had lost his battle with cancer and passed away. I couldn't help but my tears pooled around my eyes as I watched both his mother and him crumble slowly. Kong insisted on seeing his father for the final time and alone. I let him go off whilst I called my mother. I think she deserved to know too and maybe she being here would be good for Kong's mother.

My mother was here in the next 2 hours. She went straight to Kong's mother and did not leave her side at all. I oversaw the planning of the funeral arrangements with his sisters who needed comforting and strength themselves. As we were making calls, Kong finally came out. His face was ashy, pale and his eyes were red rimmed completely.

He looked at me and tried to give a small smile, muttering "at least his pain has eased, right Beam?"

I stood up, ending my call on whichever vendor it was and opened my arms. Kong walked straight into it and held on. I held onto him tightly.

I will never be able to comfort him with words for it cannot ease the pain. But I know that me being here is going to soothe him abit.

It was a rough week for the family. But both me and my mother were there throughout. I told my boys and his friends and they took over everything for the funeral, with mother letting the family grieve peacefully. I was with him the entire time.

Finally, a week later, we were about to go back to school again. Kong was just resting his head on his sister's shoulders whilst his mother was in the room. Kong's 2nd sister was making drinks for all whilst I helped her. My mother was with Kong's mom in the room.

They came out about a hour later when we were all in the TV room, TV on but our minds far away. Just then Kong's mother spoke softly.

"My husband worked too hard his entire life. That is obvious through what he has left for us, to live comfortably whether we choose to work or not. But my husband also loved hard and this is a decision we had taken when he was in his final days."

She opened her hand to reveal a pair of rings. It was her and her husband's wedding rings. She beckoned Kong and me over.

"When I see the two of you, I get reminded of my husband and myself. So we decided sometime ago, that we wanted to leave this to you two boys. Its for you. Whether you choose to wear it as a pair, part of your rings or keep it safely, we wanted to give this to you. This not only symbolised our love for you but more importantly at this stage, I get to see the love I enjoyed with my husband through you too."

My eyes opened big when I heard this. Was she giving her wedding rings to us?! Kong was equally stunned. We both opened our mouths to reject when his sisters spoke up.

"Before she came to you two, Mae already came to us. And we both agree, that no one deserves this better than you and Kong, Beam. You remind us of our dad, seeing the way you love Kong and Kong, has always been a mummy's twin. So please don't reject it."

I looked at them. In fact I cast a look around the room, everyone was spotting the same look: my mother, Kong's sisters and mother - the same teary but love filled look.

I turned to look at Kong who was just quietly looking at the rings. I held onto his hands, "Marry me someday ok?"

Kong turned to look at me and his tears just fell. He nodded softly and I leaned in to kiss him. He took the rings and slipped it on my ring finger for me.

It was just a simple band, but one that signified great love and kept the memory of his dad close to us.

I looked at my boyfriend who leaned in to kiss me for the first time ever, publicly in front of everyone.

"I love you Beam and I am really glad that I clashed with you or I wouldn't have found you."

I chuckled as I leaned in to kiss him, lost again in our own little world surrounded by people we love.
