The Prince and his Bodyguard pt.3

Nick's POV

I was startled awake. My heart was beating out of my chest and I was completely disoriented.

'I'm back, Nick. You need to go home now' said Tony sternly as he eyed me

'I'm okay' I said groggily

'You're beyond exhausted' he replied harshly

'I'm not leaving' I argued back

'You'll lose your job if you keep this up' he said angrily as he grabbed my arm

'Keep your hands to yourself. In case you've forgotten, I'm still your boss' I growled angrily as I got up and got in his face

He seized me up. I saw conflict on his face. I knew he was just worried about me. I knew he meant well. I just didn't want to let Charlie go.

'Just go rest. I'll keep him safe' he said with a sigh

Before anyone could say more, Tori burst into the room. She stopped dead in her tracks as she eyed us. I'm sure she could feel the tension.

'Nick, can you take me home?' she asked softly

'Of course, Your-' I began, but she shut me up with her glare

'Yes, I'd love to Tori' I said after clearing my throat

'If I hear that something happened to Charlie while you're on watch, I'll personally make sure that smirk of yours will disappear' she said angrily as she started at Tony

He immediately schooled his features and nodded shortly.

'Let's go' I said as I held the door open for her

I drove her home in silence. She kept her hand on my arm, as a way to reassure me that we're okay, I guess. That he's okay.

When we arrived, she immediately steered me to a guest bedroom and told me to sleep. I wanted to protest, but the moment I sat down, I realized that I was beyond exhausted. I fell asleep the moment my head hit the pillow.

'Nick, wake up' I heard Tori's soft voice as she shook me

'Is Charlie okay?' I sprung up in bed as I realized that I left Charlie at the hospital

'Calm down' she said a tad startled, as she squeezed my hand

'He's okay. He hasn't woken up yet. It's just that dinner is ready and I think you should eat something before we go back' she said with a small smile

'Oh, thank you' I said with a sigh

We ate dinner in silence, just the two of us and half an hour later we were back in our way to the hospital.

'Tori, will he be okay?' I asked with a sigh

'He will be. I'm sure of it' she said reassuringly

'Okay' I whispered

We road the rest of the way in silence.

We arrived at Charlie's room a few minutes later. Tony was standing guard by his bed and he immediately straightened up when we walked in. He curtsied when he saw Tori. I walked up to him and I saw him pale.

'Hey, boss. Prince Charlie's stats haven't changed and he still hasn't woken up. Prince Oliver visited him around 2 pm and no one's been here since except for the doctors' he said stiffly

'Thank you. I'll take over now' I said harshly

He nodded with gratitude.

'Listen... I'm sorry for earlier. I just didn't want your emotions to cloud your judgement and your ability to protect the Prince' he said uneasily as he fiddled with his hands
