Upon arriving at the Agency, we were introduced to the medical doctor. A handsome gentleman in his late twenties, he was the person Mr. Allegro was alluding to, quietly cleaning his space before retiring for the day.
"Good evening, Jayr! Getting ready to clock out, I see. I trust I'm not bothering you with my timing?"
"You are. But considering you have made it a habit, I have grown used to your last-minute check-ups," he said, amused.
"But of course! I would choose no other doctor if it wasn't you, Jayr! For who would tend to my daily wounds in a delicate manner?"
Banter ensuing, I decide to bring Okeanos in, carefully carrying her to the recovery bed.
"I suppose that I could make some time. What seems to be the problem? Wait, good heavens, is that Okeanos? What on Terra happened to her?"
"It's a long story, but she got mixed in a case I was working on. She exhausted all her energy during an encounter we had, so she passed out."
The doctor eyed into my direction in a curious fashion.
"I see, poor girl. Here, let me run some diagnostics and tend to her wounds and."
Finishing his diagnostics, the doctor applies some ointments and bandages to tend to the scratches and cuts obtained from our battle. Seeing that there were no major concerns, the doctor eases up and shares what he could find.
"Her heart rate is stable, and nothing seems to be broken. There are no indications of suffering stress on the body, minus the wounds inflicted on her. Her brain is just tired, so I am guessing that with enough rest she will be good as new. I estimate that in a day or two, she will be back to normal."
"That's good to hear. Thank you Jayr."
"Thank you, doctor."
At the good news, I let out a sigh, my worries drifting away at the news. As the doctor had removed his gloves and stethoscope, he came close to my direction and inspected me with curiosity.
" You seem to be suffering from a few wounds as well. Please let me tend to your wounds."
"O-oh. Thanks. Sorry to trouble you."
"Not at all. Think nothing of it."
He was a tall man whose white coat enveloped his entire body. With a brown vest and a white dress shirt, he dressed like a modern-day gentleman, as the pocket watch gave him a sense of nobility.
"I am guessing that you must have gotten those injuries the same way as Okeanos. Well, just give me a second and you will be as good as new. I do not seem to recognize you, though. Who do I have the pleasure in talking to?" he asked with his emerald penetrating eyes.
"E-eh, you seem too close to me, sir."
"Right, my manners. Jayr, she's the recruit the Director was talking about."
"Oh?"
"Jennifer Hawkins sir. Pleasure to meet you."
"Ah! Of course, of course! It is so good to meet you! My name is Jayr Warwick, MD for the Collective Detective Agency."
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Warwick."
"Please, call me by my name. No need for formalities!" he smiled kindly. "When I was told that we were getting a new colleague, I was intrigued who we were getting. I'm surprised you were assigned to work under Lucio, though."
"And what's that supposed to mean, friend?"
"What ever you make of it, my friend. He might seem a bit rough at first, but you will learn that he is more sentimental than he lets out."
"I believe you've said enough, Jayr. I don't want her getting any wrong ideas."
"Ha-ha, if u say so."
Despite recently meeting the doctor, my impressions of him were favorable. Professional and dutiful. As expected from someone who works in the medical field.
"And you are good to go. If you ever require treatment for your injuries, you are more than welcome to come down here to get yourself checked up."
"Of course! Thank you, sir!"
"Heh. Well, I think it is high tide you did your first report with the Director. A recruit like you should speak with the man upstairs, considering he just got back from his trip."
Glancing at my unconscious friend, I stand idle, not sure what to do.
"She will be fine. My shift might be over, but we have a nurse working overnight. She will be monitored and not left alone, so you need not worry. Just focus on recuperating. Same goes to you Lucio. As much as it hurts you, you should get some rest as well."
"T-thanks."
"I appreciate your work, my friend. If something was to be needed from me, feel free to let me know. I'll be seeing you soon."
"Mhm, take it easy."
With that, we pressed on, heading towards where the Director was residing. A smile had crossed my companion. Despite trying to look professional, his emotions once more got the best of him. Knowing his friend had everything under control and the Okeanos were going to recover swiftly, I could not fault him feeling like that. It was then that I was once met with the lone mahogany door staring me right in the face. With a creek and push, we entered and were greeted by a man situated where I once met my companion. A lone rectangular plaque sat on the table beside him. It read:
Director Juri Aether
