It was Miguel and Camila's first day at West Valley High. The pair were trying to lay low as they have already made a few enemies at the local mini-mart. As of now they were getting lunch together and looking for a place to sit.
''You know listening to music and smoking a joint in the bathroom doesn't sound like such a bad idea.'' Camila's eyes widen at the swarm of kids in the cafeteria.
''Nope, this year we are getting you some friends,'' Miguel says putting an arm around the girl's shoulder, ''and stop smoking that shit, I get it helps your anxiety but I'm worried about your health.''
''Fine, I'll try to quit but it's gonna be hard.''
''Thanks, sis... and I think I spotted a table.'' Miggy points to a table with 2 nerdy guys sitting at it. Miguel and Camila walk over, ''Is it cool if we sit here?''
''Ooh, sorry, table is really blowing up right now. I can put you on the waitlist, but it's probably next semester at the earliest.'' One of the boys says sarcastically.
''What....'' Camila looks at him in confusion.
''No, I'm kidding. Sit.'' The boy says. They all exchange names, ''This is Eli. He's a man of few words.'' Demetri points to a boy in a cosy sweater he just sheepishly nods his head. Miguel's head wanders around and his head stops when he sees a group of girls. Men.
''Dude, don't torture yourself. Those are the rich girls. You would probably get on with them Camila since your hot plus your older.'' Demetri says making Camila's eyes widen, he clearly has no filter.
''One back off my sister and two do you ever talk to them or...?'' Miguel wonders.
''Oh, yeah, all the time. We hang out after school. Make out, give each other hand jobs. Eli here is the homecoming king. Gets laid more than anyone. Isn't that right, Eli? Talk to them?'' Eli just laughs at Demetri's stupidity, ''You realize what table you're sitting at, right? You've pretty much signed away all hopes of losing your virginity before college.''
''Damn... I should've probably sat in that bathroom stall.'' Camila says as Miguel smacks her arm playfully.
''Oh, shit, Yasmine's looking at us. Probably just making fun of me.'' Eli covers his mouth and looks down.
''Why because of your lip?'' Camila asks as Eli nods but doesn't look at Camila once in fear to get judged, ''dude it looks so cool why would people bully you for that.''
''Really?'' Eli perks up as Camila nods, ''thank you, Camila.''

''I don't think she's making fun of you. I mean, just because they're hot doesn't mean they're mean.'' Miguel says trying to keep an open mind.
