We absolutely love you guys, and we're so glad you've joined us on this journey. Over the following months, we bet we're going to hear about lots of your amazing stories. However, we'd be disastrously negligent if we didn't tell you about the best story we know: a true story.
In the beginning of time, a perfect, loving, powerful God made the entire world and everything in it. He made humans, formed man out of the dirt and breathed life into his nostrils. God's world was good, and he set humans in charge of it. We had everything—but then we ruined it. The humans did the one thing that God told them not to, and ever since then, things have been imperfect. Bad. Evil.
We see it all around us—the world is in a bad shape. People are hateful to each other. We're unforgiving. We're selfish. We're spiteful. We return hurt for hurt, and we ruin the people and world around us.
But God has a plan. He won't let the world stay imperfect forever. Two thousand years ago, He came in the form of a baby—both truly human and truly God—named Jesus. Even though we all mess up, Jesus didn't. He lived the perfect life that you and I can't. And though it would be fair and right for God to punish us for all the bad things we do, just like it's fair for a judge to punish a criminal, Jesus died to take the place of our punishment. He didn't deserve anything bad to happen to Him, yet He willingly served the time for our crime for us. And not just for us, but for anyone who puts their trust in His goodness instead of their own.
You might say this sounds like a fairytale, but it's not. Before He died, Jesus claimed that He would come back to life three days later—and did. He physically rose from the dead. There are eyewitness testimonies of him both dying and being alive after He died. People at the time of His death and resurrection wrote letters to each other saying, "This is what happened. If you want to know more about it, you can go talk to person x, or y, or z, or this whole group of people who were all there and saw it happen with their own eyes." Strangely enough, there at least as much historical evidence for the resurrection of Jesus than there is that Tiberius Caesar ruled Rome (see link in-line). And these eyewitnesses weren't charlatans; they had nothing to gain by telling the story and everything to lose.
Unless, that is, they were telling the truth. If they were telling the truth, they had everything to gain by proclaiming Jesus's live, death, and resurrection, because people's lives were at stake. People's lives are at stake today—your life is at stake.
We tell you this not to scare you, but because we love you. It is absolutely true that there is a God and that He has expectations that we've all fallen short of. I've fallen short of them, and I deserve for the God of the Universe to punish me for that forever. But my trust isn't in myself and what I've done; it's in Jesus, and what He's done. Jesus's sacrifice will cover all of my wrongdoing—and it can cover yours too if you turn away from your wrongs and trust in Him.
And as mind-blowing as that forgiveness is, it's not even the best part. I said before that the world got messed up but that God has a plan. Just like He redeems the people who trust in Him, He'll one day redeem the whole Earth. One day, Jesus is going to come back again, and He's going to do away with all evil and imperfection. He's going to remake everything. And if you've put your faith in Him, you'll be with Him there in that perfect world for all of eternity. There will be no sadness, no stress, no pain, no sickness, no dying—nothing bad ever again. We will forever live with the God that loved us enough to die for us.
Those that didn't put their faith in Him, though, will be judged. They will be found guilty, just like we all would without Jesus's blood to cover our sins. We don't want you to be judged; we want you to be forgiven. We plead with you, repent and believe and be welcomed into the kingdom of God. <3
The Bible says: "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart aperson believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, 'Whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame.'" - Romans 10:9-11
With all our love and hope, Laine and Aria
