We asked our participants if they could have any one favor from a famous person, what they would wish for. Turns out, most people in our group thought the best kind of exposure they could get was a shoutout.

Which is awesome because shout-outs are relatively easy to do. Easier, even, than reading and commenting on a story. But... how to pick who to shoutout?

⭑⭑ Three Criteria for the Perfect Shoutout Candidate:

1. You like their story—or at least their premise and blurb, if that's as far as you get.

2. Preferably, they are someone who writes in your genre. Your readers, after all, are more likely to check them out if you both write in similar circles. For instance, a romance author shouting out a high fantasy author is probably less effective than one fantasy author shouting out another. Still awesome, and still encouraged. Just not perfectly ideal.

3. And the absolute cherry on top of the cake would be if they were also interested in shouting out someone else. If you give a shoutout to someone who is inclined to pass it on, then we've just started a whole cycle of friendly awesomeness.

⭑⭑ So... How Do You Find This Candidate?

You network! And we've come up with an easy way for you to do it: An in-line 'forum' where you can meet people interested in what you're interested in (ex: read-for-read, shoutout-for-shoutout, and more!).

As promised, here's a spot for you to network! Please note that we will be doing very minimal moderation in this area. We will delete comments that contain excess profanity or are stirring up heated comment-chains. We will delete forms if multiple people report that that user isn't fulfilling their side of the deal. That's all, though. If you have a problem with another user, we encourage you to sort it out between yourselves if possible, and if not, just walk away. Please be friendly and professional. If you agree to do a deal with someone, do your best to fulfill it. If something comes up, explain it to the other person. Communication is key. We hope you find this to be helpful and fun!
