The team was now miles away from the sanctuary. Soph looked around at the thick fog that covered the area. She sighed heavily. Ahead of her was the rest of the team.

Sinu was talking to one of the teammates. Hamil was his name. Hamil Stimmer. He kept the direction so they wouldn’t stray off path.

Soph sighed, wondering again why she ever bothered joining the Assault.

“Yeah, we’ll be going through what was once a thriving city now.” A male’s voice spoke from behind.

“Huh?” Soph turned to see who had spoken.

It was another of the teammates. He carried five plasma guns; a mounting cannon, two rapid fire rifles, a plasma wrist blaster and a plasma handgun. He was fairly large and muscular, hence being able to carry all the load. He was the team’s shooter.

“Look” He said, pointing his large finger ahead. “There used to be a thriving city here. But after the toxin release, this is all that’s left.”

Soph looked ahead. Sure enough, there were silhouettes of tall buildings just ahead of them. The road was noticeably better than previous roads.

“Look how the mighty have fallen…” he said.

Though Soph was unable to see his face, she could feel the sentiment behind his voice. Shama Blake was his name. Standing at around 6ft 4” with short, dark blue hair, he, though under the weight of the guns, held himself up with what could be called a militant posture.

“What was it like?” Soph asked without thinking.

“What was it like?” He laughed. “This place was the center of all business for miles around. I lived here for almost twenty six years. There wasn’t a bar that didn’t know me. Everyone here was like family…”

 “I see. It’s…like you lost…a home.”

“Yeah. I did. I’d do anything to go back to those days. When people didn’t turn. When there was no toxic gas making us have to wear these masks.”

“Well…I was just 10 when the accident happened, so my only propper memories are of living in the sanctuary.”

“Oh, really?” He looked at her.

“This is my second time outside.”

“Ah…well. At least you have us protecting you. Ari for the rear support with her Special Skill boosting our physical state and stamina. Germain will be going up for melee with his large plasma blade. Amala supported us with the healing as well as her plasma rifle. Hamil, our gps and engineer. Drake, our other gunner, you a gunner as well and, of course, Sinu our real damage dealer and team leader. Let’s not forget the other women who are all rounded.” He said looking back at the 6 women who walked at the back.

Soph grimaced at the last name. She didn’t want to be on this team with Sinu.

“I heard that there were a lot of women in the team, what happened? How are we down to only nine people?”

“A lot of them left the team when they heard what the assignment was. And Amala chased some away.”

 “Oh…”

The team was now deep inside the city’s boundaries. Soph started feeling uneasy and began glancing about.

“Anyone else feels like we’re not alone?” a man carrying a large plasma rifle in his hands spoke up. He was of slim build and stood at around 5ft 7” His black hair seemed to perk up as he became attentive. This was Drake.
