An underground facility. There are many pipes and chutes along the walls. The dim lights, greatly spaced from each other, did little to illuminate the passageway as toxic gas filled its entirety. At the end of the passageway was a huge safedoor. It had many locks on it, a few of which required biometric scanning to open.
Beyond the door was a large room. A laboratory of sorts. In it were many broken hibernation tubes. The ones closest to the entrance were small. The size you could only fit a small child into. As they progressed, however, they began getting larger and larger until they were no longer human sized and began to scale to sizes of entire buildings.
A few holo-computers were on, showing constant warning alerts. The inside of the enormous room was, surprisingly, void of any toxic gas.
A large door opened and a man stumbled through. He wore a torn lab coat that was splattered with blood. His hair was a brown mess, caked with dirt and other debris.
The man looked up, his eyes had heavy bags under them, his mouth was curled into a frown, his eyes scanned the room, as if scared of something. There was a control panel not far from him. He hobbled over to it and pulled back his sleeve. There was a wide arm band on his arm. He pulled a plug out of it and connected it to the computer.
A huge hologram screen opened and began scrolling through thousands of lines of code before clearing out. A loud beep was heard and a safe door opened on the floor. Something began rising from below the floor space. A tube with a green liquid. It continued rising until it reached the ceiling. The tube spanned a diameter of 20 ft.
There was a protrusion with a tap-like piece attached.
The man interacted with a screen on the control panel and a few more safe doors opened. From each of these doors a robotic arm with a barrel attached. Each arm targeted an area on the tube, equal distance from each other, and began spraying freezing gasses on the tube. He put in more commands and more safe doors opened, releasing small tubes that went close to the large tube. Each tube had a miniature plasma projection rim on them which was used to quickly cut a perfect fit hole into the tube and attach themselves before any of the liquid was spilt, which was made easy due to the freezing of the liquids.
After this, the tubes then connected to other tubes which were hanging from the ceiling. These tubes went into the walls and around the entire room forming a network which connected them with other tubes which already had other liquids in them, which connected to the hibernation chambers in the room.
The man watched as the liquid began mixing with the other chemicals and ran into the chambers.
He cracks a smile and removes the band from his arm, resting it on the control panel. He then hobbles over to one of the hibernation chambers that was about his size. When he came within 5 metres of the chamber, it opened, releasing freezing gas. The automatic straps in it loosened and detached. He made one more step.
“Oh?”
The man froze where he was, his whole body began to tremble all over.
“What’s this?”
The man shakily turned around to face the voice.
“Thinking of escaping me, are you?”
“N-no…”
“Oh, really. Do remember, you have nowhere to hide. Even if you escape here, you are far from welcome outside. You belong to me to work and die as I see fit.”
The man slumps down to his knees, defeated.
“This is simply my way of enacting revenge. Nothing is more sweet than seeing you suffer. Hm…? Didn’t I tell you to destroy this thing?”
The speaker sighs.
“You humans…really don’t know when to give up. Let me… destroy it for you then.”
The sound of glass cracking is heard before the tube suddenly explodes, throwing all of the liquid out across the floor.
The man watched, unmoving as the liquid slowly made its way to a drainage chute and disappeared.
“...Why?”
“Why? Because it’s only fair. You and the rest of humanity are and will continue to experience the pains we have undergone. If you want someone to hate, hate your fellow humans who did this to us.”
Footsteps echoed in the room as the speaker walked out of the room.
