“You…I can not allow you to live any longer!”
Trein didn’t wait another second as he pushed his prosthetics to their limits and kicked himself away from where he was.
The Original Turned quickly ran up to him and grabbed him by his left arm, dragging him closer to him, before inflating it’s right arm and repeatedly firing off multiple point blank explosions into Trein’s gut.
Trein felt like all his ribs had collapsed in on themselves as the immense pain of each explosions surged throughout his body.
Three more explosions and Trein felt his skin begin to tear apart under the force. He had to do something or the Turned was literally going to split him apart. Gritting his teeth and breathing in sharply, he clenched his prosthetic fist and grabbed the Turned’s right arm with his left, dragging him in closer, then punched him in the face with all his might with his left, knocking him off balance.
Trein landed to his feet and exhaled, suddenly feeling another massive force collide with his chest, sending him flying with the waves of another deafening explosion.
Riverich stood still, panting under the mask. He was almost out of fusion cores now and the evolved Turned before him seemed to be able to keep going for another hour. Another explosion went off. He glances over to where it came from and sees a silhouette sailing through the air towards his location.
Trein crashed into the ground, a shriek of pain escaping his throat on impact. Stepping back, Riverich could just make out how bad Trein’s state was.
“Were you taking those explosions head on or something?!” Riverich half shouted at the guy as he slowly uncurled from the painful ball he was in.
“S-something like that.” Trein wheezed.
“The other human…”
“Huh?” Trein turned to where the voice came from. It wasn’ the Voice of the Original Turned. It was a more feminine voice. His eyes stopped on the evolved Turned that stood some ways back from them.
“Did you just speak…?” Trein asked, doubting himself.
“You…haven't…turned…”
Sure enough. The Evolved was speaking. So it did have sentience.
“No. I didn’t turn. What about it?” Trein shouted at her, standing up shakily. The Evolved straightened up and took a step back, as if surprised.
“You…can…hear…us…?”
The Evolved Turned took a cautious step forward. It slowly reached out its hand.
“Huh?” Trein looked at its actions in confusion. “Y-yes. I can hear you.”
“You…can…hear…our…voice…?”
The turned took another step forward. Its hostile demeanor seemed to have completely vanished, leaving what looked like a lost, pitiful abomination of a monster in its stead.
“Y-yeah…I’m hearing your voice…I think…” Trein felt a bit uncomfortable now. The Evolved was slowly walking towards them. The sound of fusion cores activating cut the almost eerie silence. Riverich, though not understanding what was going on, was ready to fight. Trein put a hand on the guns, signaling the man to wait.
“If…you…can…hear…us…”
“Yeah…?” Trein could feel the great tension in the pause.
“Please…sa-”
“WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! ATTACK THEM!”
The shout came from in the air. Both Trein and Riverich quickly looked up. The Original Turned was almost directly above them, as if sailing through the air. The explosion had gone off before but the two were too focused on the Evolved Turned to take notice.
