Michael and Laurie: The Cost of Redemption

Chapter 11

Loomis and Laurie flee down the hallway, vanishing into Laurie's room, the reinforced door shutting and locking behind them both. 

Michael reawakens, sitting up straight before standing again, shaking off the slight pain in his head. He grabs the sharp tool and walks slowly up the stairs, stopping when he hears a door slam shut on the floor above him. He makes his way to the floor and walks down the floor, looking into each door window for Laurie. 

Loomis grips the privacy curtain and swings it shut, hunkering with Laurie down on the other side of her bed, his fingers fussing with his gun- finally getting it to unjam and mentally counts four bullets left.

"Shhhh.." He comforts Laurie, "shhhh..."

Laurie nods and settles on the ground, calming her breathing as she watches the doctor deal with his gun. 

Michael stops at one of the doors with the privacy curtain, this one isn't locked and he walks right in. No one. He tries another, no one. Finally, he finds one with a locked door. He punches his fist through the door, making a hole big enough to fit his arm inside and unlock the door. No one. He continues the search, getting more and more frustrated with every empty room. 

Loomis hears the continual approach of destruction, flipping off the light switch and aiming his gun directly at the illuminated outline of the door's window through the curtain. 

Michael finds a door titled with patient name: Strode, L. Would they be stupid enough to go in her own room? He might as well check. He grabs the handle and tries twisting it, realizing it's locked and once again punching a hole through the door and unlocking it from the inside. Michael walks in and sees no one at first, but he decides to check this room more thoroughly, approaching where his doctor and sister are with each slow step.
