"Promise me that we will meet again."
"Okay! Let's promise that!" You reach out your pinky to watch him raise an eyebrow in confusion.
"What are you doing?" He asked,
"Eh?" You blinked then laughed at his response, "You've never seen a pinkie promise before?"
"Pinky...promise?" He took out his pinky and stared at it in confusion.
"Yeah, a pinkie promise," You eagerly nodded and wrapped your pinkie around his. His eyes widened at this move and intensely watched you firmly shake his hand with your pinkie.
"And that's that! We promised we will see each other again, and that promise will come true because we pinkie promised!"
He stared at his hand that held yours. After quickly glancing at you, his eyes glistened as though he had just discovered something new and sacred.
"T-Then it's a pinkie promise!" His smile took over his face as he copied the shake, "We will meet again!"
That was years ago...
Yet you would still get that same memory implanted in your dreams. And each time, you would wake up with a single tear falling down from your cheek. You slowly rose from your bed and wiped the tear from your eye. You found yourself reminiscing about the past as you stared at the blankets.
You never saw him again. Especially after that promise was made. You remembered how he was pulled away by his sister and blended into the crowds of Egypt shortly after. For some reason, despite your constant memory loss over what you had for breakfast the week prior, you remembered every single detail of that day. Almost as though your subconscious refuses to forget that moment.
"(y/n)! Come downstairs and have some breakfast! I have something to tell you."
You heard your mother call you as though she knew you were awake. You slowly got out of your bed and put on your school uniform, already dreading the amount of school work you are going to have to do. Dragging yourself down to the kitchen, you sat down to be greeted by a simple breakfast made by your mother, who was already in her work clothes as she slid you a cup of orange juice.
"I'm surprised you're up this early." She noted with a raised eyebrow.
"I just am." You shrugged,
"That's unlike you. You'd be up around thirty minutes from now, maybe even later if I don't yank the blankets off of you and push you off the bed."
"...thanks." You sneered and took a bite out of your breakfast.
"Oh, by the way," She sat infront of you with her own breakfast and a cup of coffee, "I have something to tell you,"
"Yeah...you said that earlier." You reminded and watched her laugh to herself,
"Forgot I did." She noted, "I need your opinion on something."
"....okay?" You raised an eyebrow, "...what?"
"Let's say you get an offer to go somewhere, would you accept it?"
There was a brief pause in the kitchen as you tried to figure out what she meant by that. Does she mean temporary? Permanent? Do you have to get ready to say your goodbyes to this godforsaken high school and your friend? When it took a bit for you to actually get one? You had just woken up, you did not want to hear news that you're gonna wake up in a different bed within ten minutes of waking up.
