The screams of innocent wafting through Paimon's head as she watched the endless amounts of blood and bodies left behind on the flattened terrain of what was once called Liyue Harbor. The geo archon's power almost destroyed all of the nation before he was able to take control. To think that Paimon once looked up to the noble, seemingly mature and well behaved man. She hated herself for it. Because of Childe's and Zhongli's fight, thousands of innocent people died, and Paimon did nothing to help. Not like she could anyways. She clutched a sleeping Aether's arm fearfully as Zhongli's dragon claws held them gently. Despite the fact that this Aether was only a doll, he was the only one Paimon now felt safe around, as all of the men like the one who was carrying them right now, thought of Paimon as a part of their broken, messed up family, and all required her to be with the Aether doll to make him seem more alive. She had tried to protect the other people of Teyvat, but upon failing, all she had that she could try to protect was this fake "Aether".
Barely 3 weeks ago had the contract started. That's what they called it, the Aether Contract, an event that started tearing the world apart from the inside. It wasn't a contract, despite its name, but an event where mostly men from across 4 nations of Teyvat rose up at the rumor of a perfectly crafted "doll" of the famous golden haired traveler, who all of the men who rose wanted for themselves. The problem was that Paimon was regarded as a younger sibling, a best friend of Aether, and those men realized he wouldn't be the Aether they loved without her. So they took her too. Like she was an object. She didn't like it. At all.
At this point all she could do was pray that the real Aether would come back and stop this mess. She wasn't sure if the men would ever be sane again, but Aether could stop the genocide. At least they had something to live for now, so they most likely wouldn't destroy the world through their rage. Her eyes were wet as she looked up towards the smoke driven sky.
