C-Childe...? A familiar sweet voice sounded. Tartaglia turned his head away from Kaeya, who was completely still as he stared behind the ginger. His eyes were heartbroken yet overjoyed at the same time. What could possibly make the icy Kaeya like this? Childe almost choked and dropped the knife held to the Calvary captain's throat as he took in what was behind him.

Ajax couldn't breathe. His heart had stopped. 5 years of turmoil in himself, in everyone he knew, all caused by the person behind him, a person who he couldn't live without. Someone who shone like Snezhnayan morning suns rising above the silver frosted clouds, a warmth in an indescribable cold. The only person Childe had ever needed or wanted. The only person he had ever wished to protect.

It was Aether. The real Aether. Living, breathing, speaking Aether. He was wearing his classic outfit of a black crop top and golden pants, but the look on his face was one Ajax wished to never see again: true, pure, horror.

Tartaglia stepped towards the traveler, hoping to take that terrible look off his beautiful face. But as he reached out his bloody hand towards the flawless blonde hair, a spike of physical and mental pain sent his face flying to the side. He reached up to feel his now red cheek, turning to Aether, who was glaring at him as golden tears dripped out of his eyes. The crying boy clenched his fist, anger roaring in every fiber of his being.

Childe was left motionless as his beloved flowed past his shoulder and over to the man he had been about to kill. It felt as if he couldn't breathe, as if he was trapped under the Tsaritsa's watchful, sharp eyes once again, like if he did one thing out of line, he would be disposed of.

But his kind Aether would never "dispose of him", right? Aether was too kind, and Aether loved Tartaglia just as much as the harbinger loved him. They were meant to be together! It was fate! Ajax was supposed to protect and be with Aether for the rest of his life! They would get married, have kids, and live forever more, happy. They had to. There was no possible way his Aether would ever leave him, right? After all they'd been through?

"Kaeya... are you alright?... What happened here? Why did Tartaglia attack you? Where in the seven archons is everyone? Why are the cities gone? Please Kaeya, please tell me!" Aether was sobbing drops of honey gold liquid off his face, where they splashed on the ground and grew grass on the rough rocky path.

Kaeya, having recovered from his surprise, hugged Aether, holding him to the cryo user's chest with fake fear. He looked back up to Childe and sneered. Aether silently sobbed in his chest, shoulders hunched as Kaeya stroked his back affectionately.

"You've returned at last, Aether. It's good to see you again, after all these years." Kaeya murmured, embarrassing the Traveler in a tight, warm, loving hug.

Childe couldn't move once again. He was left motionless, watching the love of his life in another man's arms.
