Chapter 8

-Whitty POV-

I rolled the Hummer over a curb and somewhat parked it. "Alright, we're here."

The bump jolted Sabrina awake. She stared in wonder at the size of the crowd milling about us.

"Wow, is this some kind of parade or something?" She asked.

I still couldn't really get over the fact she didn't know Miku. "No," I answered. "It's Hatsune Miku's concert."

"Wow..." Sabrina opened the door and jumped out before I could stop her. Great. I leaned into the backseat and shook Hex awake.

"5 more minutes..." he muttered before rolling over for another snooze.

I shook him again, but all he did was mumble and brush my arm away. Alright, he wants to do this the hard way. I picked up the bottle of water from the cupholder and dumped whatever was left onto his head. He sprang awake as soon as the cold water hit his face.

"I'M UP, I'M UP!" He shrieked. I turned around as fast as I could and tried to pretend nothing had happened. The was an odd silence from the backseat followed by a muffled thump. At last I turned around. Hex was nowhere to be seen.

Oh no... I started to panic. I was on the verge of getting out and looking for him when something suddenly popped up beside my window.

"Surprise!" He shouted. I screamed. When I had recovered enough to see who it was, Hex was standing beside the window laughing his head off. I glared at him. He waved an arm at me.

"Come on, Whitty. Concert's starting." He ran off and disappeared into the crowd.

I followed him. Or, tried to. My height meant I was at least 2 feet taller than everyone. It was hard not to get noticed. Ever try walking with your knees bent nearly double? It's not fun, I can guarantee you. I tried to find Hex and Sabrina through the crowd. Hex was easy. His antennae were poking up from the crowd. I tried to head over to him, but there were too many people. I couldn't risk pushing through for fear of being recognized.

"Hello, everybody!" A voice called out. The crowd suddenly broke out into loud screams and applause. I almost swore I could hear Hex over the roar of voices. Miku herself was onstage, holding a microphone in her left hand while the right was raised above her head. Her cyan hair fell almost all the way to the floor.

"I'm really glad to see all of you..." The crowd cheered again. Miku waved her hands around until there was silence.

"For this show, we have some guests." Everyone around me whispered excitedly. At this point I was wondering whether Hex could take any more excitement without glitching out.

I really hope Sabrina is okay...

Wait, did I just say that?

Darn, stop thinking about her for once. The show is beginning for heaven's sakes.

Miku was saying something that I couldn't hear properly. Someone walked onto the stage across from her. Loud cheers erupted from all sides. But the only thing I could see was the little blue-haired midget standing arrogantly on the stage. Symbols started flashing in my eyes. I held my head as tight as I could.

No, no, no. Please don't explode. I kept saying to myself.

But one thought still lingered in my mind.

Damn that kid.

-Sabrina POV-

So this is Miku? Wow, she looks every bit like an idol.
