Chapter 11: Hitoshi Shinso

'Today is the day.' Hitoshi walks with Aizawa-Sensei to the training ground where the two hero classes will hold a practical exercise. It is a cold January day and Hitoshi joins a day in the hero course today because he is transferring next school year. He is nervous but tries not to show this to his teacher.

"Ready?" asks Aizawa-Sensei with his bright yellow sleeping bag under his arms. Hitoshi only nods as they get closer to the noisy hero students. This huge hubbub abruptly falls silent as he and Aizawa-Sensei come into view. Fortunately, after a few moments of awkward silence, their teacher speaks up:

"Hitoshi Shinso will join today's exercise in preparation for his transfer to the hero course. Ida, will you show him around and to everyone else... behave yourselves." Hitoshi notices that at that last remark, his teacher lets his gaze linger a little longer on certain students. Among them on the explosive boy and the electric blonde who, if he remembers correctly, is called Kaminari.

He remembers him from the sports festival. He himself had just been beaten by Midoriya and Kaminari came to prepare for his match, which he had shamefully lost to a girl from class 1-B. He still remembers how Kaminari tried to strike up a conversation with his cheerful personality despite his own cold nature. He really doesn't know how he can survive so much sunshine, with lots of coffee probably. The electric student was talking about how cool he thought his fight with Midoriya was and that he hoped he would get into the hero course, preferably in his class of course. Hitoshi had reacted coldly, but he could not deny that deep down those words made him so happy, as if he had finally achieved something.

He was quite surprised when a few months later, after Bakugo had been kidnapped by the League of Villains, he ran into Kaminari on the street having a terrible panic attack and his friend, whom he had named Hanta, clearly did not know how to deal with it in a proper and safe way. He did not know whether he was going to help repay him for his compliments and kind words at the sports festival or simply because he could not bear to see someone suffering from a panic attack. After all, he himself knew very well how bad those could be.

"I will not disappoint you, Sensei." Ida salutes with his arm, this brings Hitoshi out of his thoughts. Ida's behaviour produces several contorted faces of classmates trying to hold back their laughter. And some protests from the students of class 1-B, especially a certain blonde boy, who is hit on the head with a huge hand by a redheaded girl to make him stop. She apologises to her classmate and Ida walks stiffly forward as he continues his speech, "You heard him, behave for Shinso." Ida also lets his gaze linger a little longer on certain individuals: "Maybe we should start by introducing ourselves a little more? Name, hero name, quirk and something you like." commands Ida.

There is an assenting murmur from the classes, but Hitoshi interrupts, "No need to, I already know some people... and I'm not here to make friends anyway..." If everyone starts introducing themselves, they will probably expect the same from him and he doesn't much feel like it.

"We like to do it bro, we want you to feel at home in your new class, whichever one that may be." says a red-haired boy "I'll start: Eijiro Kirishima, Red Riot, hardening, I can make parts of my body as hard as a stone and I like manly things." he finishes with a fist on his chest and looks like he is proud of his performance.

A black-haired boy with tape on his elbows, which called Kaminari Hanta, laughs amusedly at his friend as the next one takes over, "Denki Kaminari, Charge Bold, electro kinesis, I can cover my whole body with electricity, and I like being with my friends. Oh, and by the way I would love to become friends." he smiles shamelessly as the rest of the class laughs at his attempt at friendship.
