I am back again with another chapter. This is a bit darker and contains descriptions of panick attacks, so if you are not comfortable with that, please skip that.

Take care of yourself

--------------------------------------

Shota could kick himself. He knows that hero society is corrupt. He knows that many heroes deal mercilessly with their enemies and traitors. He knows that. He knows that and he wants to kick himself for being so stupid. He stormed through the corridors of the prison with Detective Tsukauchi right behind him. It was two days ago. It had been two full days since his student had been unmasked as the traitor and he has just found out that no one had called in or contacted Detective Tsukauchi. He knows how tough hero society is and he was stupid enough to leave his student to his fate, thinking they would question him properly. He sincerely thought they would call in Detective Tsukauchi in such a serious case. He couldn't have been more wrong. The colourless, musty walls fade as he almost flies through the corridors, his quirk already activated out of sheer anger and anxiety.

He thinks back to the discovery two days ago. He remembers well how his student had looked at him scared as if Shota was going to beat him up. He remembers well how those golden yellow eyes had looked at him almost pleadingly as if he was silently crying for help. He also knew he should be wary, his optimistic student had himself admitted to Hitoshi that he was the traitor so he could not just let him go because he was his student and because he had a soft spot for people and especially children in need. But the least his student deserved was an honest interrogation with a lie detector quirk so that he could be helped or punished appropriately.

He was not the only one who had doubts about Kaminari's arrest. Hitoshi had kept quiet after his first warning, but when they got to their flat, his adopted son blew up at him. Shota let him blow off some steam and Hizashi, understanding the situation, sat down with Eri in the playroom to distract her; he would explain to him later what had happened. Hitoshi had tried desperately to convince him that someone else took control of Kaminari when he had brainwashed him, and that he had heard genuine panic and regret in his voice. Shota had convinced Hitoshi that he agreed with that and that he would get to the bottom of this too, but that he should keep quiet. He was worried about his son, he truly had the heart of a true hero, but right now he didn't want him to risk getting arrested too because he wanted to prove Kaminari's innocence. After several minutes, Hitoshi finally reluctantly promised to keep quiet, and he only hoped he would keep his promise.

He is about to slam open the door of the cell where his student should be, but Detective Tsukauchi grabs his hand and stops him: "If he is alone, you don't want to scare him off, and if he is not alone, you don't want to turn the police against you unnecessarily." He is right, Shota knows. With great effort, he takes a step back and he lets the detective go to the door first. With a look of understanding, the latter tells him once more to hold back and not get himself into trouble. He opens the door and several angry voices flow out.

"What is the league up to! Tell us! What are they up to!" Shota tries immensely hard to hold his anger. This is not how an interrogation is supposed to go.

"I don't know... I'm sorry... I don't know... I'm sorry..." his student's broken voice almost makes him freeze on the spot: what on earth have they done to him?

"Liar!!!" the furious voice almost makes Shota lose patience, but Tsukauchi is ahead of him:

"He is telling the truth." Shota does not know how the detective can sound so calm and confident in this situation, but he says nothing himself.

He knows he will blow up at them and he knows the detective is right. This is not the right time to get angry, this is not the time to attack the corrupt hero society. He should first give his student a fair chance to explain for himself what is going on. So instead of blowing up at the police suppressing his student, he says as calmly as he can, "We are here to question him."
