After not wanting to leave Chicago but having to, they landed the next day in Austin, Texas. There he actually had a performance. It was at Club Illusions where they say the glasses are never empty and the girls are always pretty. When Lil Murda and Woddy first pulled up to the building, it didn't look like much.
From the outside it was a small building with white and black brick and all black doors. The parking lot was packed with no drag-alongs in sight. The music could be heard and felt as they moved closer to the door. He got a little concerned when he didn't see anybody hanging around outside.
Lil Murda asked Woddy, "You sure about this it?"
"Yep. This is the address."
Lil Murda looked up at the blue green neon sign and shrugged his shoulders. Woddy told him, "Come on. Let's go inside."
When they were about to approached the door, a man came out around of the club saying, "Hey, how ya doing?" Woddy and Lil Murda both stopped in their tracks. The big burly man dressed in all black and do rag on his head told them, "I am head of security and I will be taking you in to talk to the promoter. He has been expecting you."
After hearing that, they both rested easy. "You have any other security with you?"
Woody spoke up, "No, it's just me and Murda." The security lead them inside through the side door, down a half lit hallway. There a couple of people that was hanging in the hallway who were looking to hook up with the talent and some were just wanting to be seen with the talent. Murda took the scene in as could hear the thump of the music and the roar of the people dancing, drinking and having a good time.
The security finally got them to the office where they find a man about the same height as Lil Murda standing. He had his back turned when they entered the room. The security said, "Boss, they're here." The man turned around and Woddy and Lil Murda both jumped.
"Rome!!!!"
"What the ..."
"What's going on with ya, maine? I'm glad you were able to take me up on my offer to perform here."
Woddy shook his head and at the same time trying to catch his breath. "I didn't know...Who in the...."
Rome said, "Yeah. That was my assistant you were talking to on the phone when you set up the performance."
"This ain't happenin'....Naw, let's go Woddy...."Lil Murda said with his heart racing a mile a minute. They both started to back out the door.
Rome puts up a hand and tells them, "Aye, come on. Wait, maine. I know that we have had our differences in the past but I am willing to put all that behind us."
"This ain't real. It can't be. I ki...."
"So you thought. After you 'murdered' me, I took that as an opportunity to turn my life around. I paid a couple of people to have my funeral with a closed casket of course. And left Mississippi as the funeral was going on."
"This is insane," said Woddy.
Rome just chuckled. "How you get this joint?"
"Since I chose to change my life," he replied.
Murda and Woddy look at each other.
"No, I'm serious. I know that things that did not end well between us. And it's partly my fault. I know that I can do the absolute most sometimes so I decided that I couldn't keep losing friendships and business with people that are suppose to be able to trust me. I had to make a change."
Woddy told him, "There is no way. There is no possible way." He almost fell back onto the couch that matched the dark cherry wood shelf that was behind it.
"Listen....just perform this one time and we will call it even. Okay? Aye, you know what? I can go ahead and pay you up front. How 'bout that?"
"I don't make deals with the devil because the devil can't be trusted," said Murda.
"Amen to that. But I am promise you that there is nothing to fear. Like I said I can pay you up front right now." Rome reached around his back to up a drawer that several bundles of cash in it. He pulled out at least six.
"We have a deal?"
They both looked at the bundles, at each other and then at Rome. Lil Murda took the bundles from Rome and handed the bundles to Woddy. "Okay. We have a deal. And just because here is another thirty grand for you, Woddy."
"I swear if you try anything stupid..."
"Yeah, I know. You'll kill me again, making sure that I stay dead this time."
Woddy looked at him with his jaw set. Lil Murda told him, "Come on. The people are waiting." He opened the door and looked back at Rome who was still sitting on the desk. He could the music and the people callling for him. He needed to answer the call.
"They got the music ready?"
"Indeed."
He got his mind set to give the people what they wanted, looking ahead of him where he could see the DJ on the turntables. "Let's make magic." With that, Woddy closed the door behind him as Murda made his way to the stage. The security guided them to stage as the DJ made the announcement of his arrival.
"Alllll the way from Mississippi..." said the Dj as the crowd screams. "Coming to the stage...The Man. The Myth. And one day the Legend. LIL MURDA!!!!!"
With mic in hand, Murda graced the stage with his caramel six foot and four inch frame and gave the people what they came for.
