Zane chanted the familiar quote from the Irene Bible to the people in prayer. The Irene temple in O'khasis was the biggest and most luxurious temple in the world.
The art apon the ceiling told the story as old as time. Irene's love triangle, the fall, the birth of the ultima, irenes fall... all of it in a beautiful mural on the ceiling and sculptures. A ginormous statue of Irene stood tall at the front of the temple. At her feet, Zane preached in the ancient language yet again. A language no one else knew but the priest that mentored him and people like him.
He lit the candle. The smoke rose in like elegant thread. The air smelled of lavender and cherry blossoms. Both plants were planted by the pillers. Growing upwards on them beautifully.
The singers were of an orchestra and sang low and high. Making the aura more holy. For when without the sound, the temple is more errie than anything. Especially at night...
Zane finished the chant and just in time too as the bell sounded after. Dinging 10 times to indicate it was 10 O'clock. Services were dismissed.
The crowd rose and bowed. Zane looked amongst the crowd. Satisfied, he hit the gong. People started to walk out with chipper friendly conversations. Making sure to keep thier voices low.
Zane stayed where he was and stood tall. He glanced up at the royal balcony.
His father looked mad like always and gared down at him disapprovingly. He stayed standing during the whole service like that. Like a demonic volunteer waiting to swoop down and devour you whole.
His mother looked werry of the king. But smiled down at him. Her face showed she was proud of him but concerned. Again, as always. She always worried about something one way or another.
His brothers on the other hand appeared to not care about the service at all. They looked bored out of their minds and zoned out.
Garroth looked at him and snarled. Needless to say they didn't have the best of relationships.
Zane pulled his eyes away from them and payed attention to the crowd as they left the long temple corridor.
Life as a priest in training and royal was not easy.
Especially for Zane.
"Zane darling, you did an amazing service today." His mother complimented.
They were in the personal dinning room for the royals. It was a small room with a table, fireplace, and a livingroom area. Nothing special really about it other than the wood being of fine craftsmanship aswel as the blue wallpaper.
"You're definitely getting better at speaking the ancent text fluently." His mother beamed.
"Thank you mother." Zane said politely.
He ate some more of his lunch and the table fell silent again. Silence was normal for the family at this point. Especially from the king. He never spoke during meals.
Zane was 14 now. Garroth was 17, vlad 12.
Garroths birthday was in spring. It was fall now with a garenteed cold winter. And Garroth was to be crowned king on his 18th. An event far to exaggerated on how important it was. And it was starting to take a toll on Garroth that Zane could see.
Vlads was tomorrow. A ball will be held tomorrow night. The guests will be other royals from nearby and far kingdoms that are allies in the war against the Fia country.
The war had been on for the past 4 years and has been quite intense. The war was over trade and disagreements on ocean trade routes and by extention, territories aswel. The war was violent and affected those who wouldn't be involved normally. Making hell break lose.
