Derek

It didn't make sense. Why wouldn't Scott let me know what was happening. Now I've got a sad kid trying his best to keep it together on my couch.

So far, after the nightmare he had, Stiles seemed to sleep normally now. I didn't tell him everything I really heard. I'm pretty confused about it.

It was 4:36am and I just couldn't go back to sleep after that. I went back down stairs to check on Stiles.

He laid there with his mouth wide open and breathing slowly. It made me laugh to myself a little bit.

When I realized he was sleeping just fine, I started reading my book to pass the time until the sun came up.
--
It is now 7am and the sun is pouring through the windows. I took that as my que to start cooking, Stiles will want to eat I assume, given the night he had.

"Wha- what is that, smells good." I heard Stiles say with a low scratchy voice. My back was facing him and I started to smile.

"Food. Get up, let's eat." I snapped back.

He narrowed his eyebrows at me when I turned around to face him.

"What? You don't want breakfast or something?" I asked.

"Well, no, like of course I want food yes, it's just.. you cook?" Stiles had his arms hanging over the back of the couch with that stupid confused expression on he gives me like 60% of the time I ever see him.

"Yes, Stiles, I cook. Get up." I stated and slid a plate of eggs and sausage to the edge of the counter.

Stiles slowly got up while rubbing his eyes from still waking up. He dragged himself over to the counter and started eating.

While we were both eating, we never really looked at each other. It was weird. I've never hung out with this dude and now it's like I'm forcing him on a breakfast date we both don't want to be on.

"Hey Derek? Why aren't you like this more often? I mean like, well you know, you're not really the 'stay at home mom" type. But it's not a bad side of you." He asked.

I gave a short breathy laugh because that was actually kind of funny.

"Stiles, I live like this everyday, you're not here with me everyday. Therefore, you don't get to see me like this often." I said.

He looked up at me and paused. He didn't say anything back and just continued to look at me. Sometimes he is the most strange human I've ever met.

After breakfast I started the dishes and without being told, Stiles started folding up my blanket and headed upstairs to put it back. When he came downstairs, he just looked at me.

"What now?" I asked annoyed.

"What?- nothing! It just, I just.."

"Stiles spit it out!" I raised my voice.

"I can't help but notice how awkward this is my guy. I mean, come on, you're supposed to be this terrifying, big alpha. You're really just a teddy bear in a leather jacket." Stiles smiled at me.

I didn't smile back. I inhaled and exhaled loud enough for him to lose his goofy smile.

"Nevermind. Anyways, I should get going. Gotta check on my dad." He said.

Stiles started walking out of the door and it occured to me that his father probably wasn't in the right headspace. He could easily turn me in for so many things.

"Stiles?" I asked as he grabbed the door handle.

"Yeah?" He stopped and turned to me.

"I think I should go with you. Your dad was introduced to this stuff really quick. I don't want him to think we are bad people. I want to make sure he's thinking right." I said.
