2. Glimpse of the Past

I found myself in a clearing of an unknown forest. There was a stream in front of me and I was holding a flask of water. I stopped in front of the stream and was shocked by my reflection.

I looked older -- more mature. I wore a knee length dress made of some course material. My hair was pulled up in a simple French braid down my back. My usually brown eyes were lavender -- the exact shade that flecked Andrew's eyes.

"Catherine," a voice called. It was distant yet very familiar.

"I am coming," I replied. Even my voice sounded different -- softer and more melodic.

My feet led me to a campsite. There were three people there -- two boys and a girl. The girl looked vaguely familiar but I couldn't place where I have seen her.

"Catherine where have you been?" a boy asked. His was the voice I had heard calling me in the clearing. His voice was soft and gentle but he was also worried.

The second boy spoke up and glared at the me. "What were you thinking? You know you are not supposed to wander around alone."

I growled. "Do you not think me capable of protecting myself?"

The boy did not respond.

"Or do you think me incapable of ruling a kingdom as well?"

Wait. What Kingdom?

"That is not a concern right now," the girl said.

I glared at the girl, "What do you mean, Arianna?" Her name came effortly off my tongue, as though I've known her my whole life.

"They are nearing."

The dream shifted.

It was dark and I was in another unknown forest.

The first boy was there with me. It suddenly made me wonder what our relationship was.

"Hurry up, Catherine," he pleaded.

I struggled for breath. "Go on without me."

He shook his head. "We have to hurry and get you to safety. Besides, it is my duty as your husband to protect you, as well as our unborn child."

An arrow sailed past my head and we were surrounded.

A bright flash of light surrounded us then I was back in darkness.

I woke up in an unknown room. The wall were decorated with various weapons. I assumed they were fake.

A girl with silver eyes entered the room. She looke like the girl from my dream - Arianna. As I looked at her closely, I realized it was Hailey. I didn't recognize her because it was the first time I've seen her eyes.

"Hailey? Where am I?"

"You're in one of the guest rooms of our house." She paused. "As to why you're here, well you collapsed in school twice so they thought it would be better if you went home and well your parents just left town for a busines trip, remember? Your parents thought it would be better if you stayed here so my Mom could check on you."

I nodded.

Hailey left to call her Mom and inform her that I was awake.

When they came back both Jack and Andrew were with them.

I gasped in sudden realization. Both Jack and Hailey looked exactly like the the boy and Arianna.

"How is that possible," I muttered.

"Did you say something, sweetie?" asked Mrs. Prior.

"They looked exactly like them."

"Who?" asked Mrs. Prior.

"Jack and Hailey look exactly like Arianna and the boy she was with."

They all paled in realization.

"What do you know?"
