When I opened my eyes, I saw that Andrew was sitting at the foot of the bed while the rest had grabbed chairs.
Andrew got up and left the room. "What's up with him?" I groaned as a wave of dizziness overcame me.
Hailey gave me a small smile and shook her head before looking at me. Her eyes widened and she handed me a mirror.
The girl I saw was not me. She was stunning. She had raven black hair up to her waist with a single streak of violet. Her skin was pale and flawless. She had full lips which were a rose pink color and her eyes were a deep shade of violet with a golden ring around it. She was not me yet she was.
I did not even have time to react when Andrew entered the room. He was different as well. He had grown taller yet his body was lean like a swimmers. His eyes were the same shade as mine but it had silver flecks and a red ring around it. If I thought he was handsome before, now I'd say his beauty would surpass Adonis.
He smirked at me and I groaned again. I was so busy checking him out I had failed to remember that he could read my mind.
He chuckled at my embarassment while his family looked at us questioningly. It was then I noticed that he had brought a tray of food and water with him. I looked at the food longingly.
As if sensing my hunger Andrew placed the tray on my lap. I smiled at him gratefully. When I tasted the soup my eyes widened in disbelief. How could he possibly know how my parents' recipe?
"How did you make this?" I asked.
He thought for a moment before shrugging. "I don't know."
I glanced at Mrs. Prior who seemed to have been watching us like a tennis match. "You know something," I accused.
She looked thoughtful for a moment before nodding. "I had always thought it was a mere fairytale."
"How anything be a mere fairytale?" I exclaimed. "I thought this was a fairytale - a myth even."
Mrs. Prior sighed. "Well there's nothing wrong with hoping," she muttered.
Hailey gasped. "I remember now."
We all looked at her in question.
"Mom said it was a fairytale. I remember what fairytale it was now. It had been my favorite because it was so sweet and well, romantic. It beats the typical Prince-saves-Princess." She sighed dreamily.
Jack groaned exasperated. "Just tell us already!"
She rolled her eyes. "Fine. Mom used to call it 'The Guardian.' She said it happened a long time ago where Princesses ruled. No one knew how it happened but for every Princess their was a chosen Guardian.
"The brothers and uncles of the Princess are tasked in finding her Guardian. A Guardian always has a special bond with the Princess that every Prince can sense even if they haven't met. This how a Guardian is chosen. The Princess is presented her Guardian on her twelfth birthday - the day of her Coronation.
"From that day forward, the Guardian is to swear an oath of eternal protection. You see their lives are tied together. If the Princess dies, the Guardian dies but if the Guardian dies the Princess lives though she will feel as though a part of her is missing.
"Aside from that, the both Guardian and Princess are attuned to each others emotions, needs, wants, and secrets."
When she finished the only thing I could think of saying was, "So what you're telling me is that I have a stalker."
Hailey threw her hands up in frustration while Mrs. Prior looked amused. I threw a glance at Andrew and saw that he was pale.
I reached over and punched Andrew in the shoulder hard. He yelped and glared at me.
I laughed. Well, there's the Andrew I know and loved, I thought sarcastically.
He simply smirked.
I guess he heard me.
