Careless

Though I really did care about Jade Nyugen, I can't say that I was deeply in love her at the time. Sure, she was feisty, strong, beautiful, opinionated and still is, however, I don't believe I was capable of appreciating Jade the way I should have then. And unfortunately, it showed.

"Yawn!" Jade exclaims as she turns over, on her side, facing Roy, waking him up.
"Hey." Jade smiles.
"Hey. Your loud yawn woke me up." Roy says irritatedly.
"Sorry, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do." Jade responds with a grin.
"Riiight." Roy replies with a raised brow.
"Any plans today?" Jade smiles.
"What do you think?"
"Ummm...nothing? Just gonna be one of those lazy days?" Jade asks slightly excited.
"No! I'm going to keep looking for Roy, Jade." Roy says with a scowl.
"Oh! Sorry! Forgot about that for one second of my life!" Jade rolls her eyes.
"Whatever. If you aren't coming then fine! See if I care." Roy glares, getting out of bed.
"Roy?! What's your problem?! Can't you just relax a little?" Jade questions, walking up to him.
"Sigh. Ok, fine. If I do, then will you come?" Roy asks, hopeful. This causes Jade to raise her brow in question.
"Ok. Sure. I'll go. Happy?" Jade sighs.
"Oh yeah." Roy sarcastically replies.
"Great. I'll get changed." Jade ignores.

Soon after their departure from their newly rented apartment, Jade decides that's she is hungry, thus, she encourages Roy to stop somewhere.

"Erggggh! Why couldn't you have just brought something from our apartment?! Roy blurts, waiting in a long line for fresh chicken whizees.
"I already told you! There isn't any food left!" Jade retorts.
"You ate it all?!"
"Really?! We haven't been shopping in weeks!"
Jade blurts.
"This line is ridiculous! Chicken whizzes are disgusting anyways! Why get them?!" Roy questions.
"Maybe because I like them! If you don't want to wait for me then fine! Go ahead and leave! I'll call to catch up later, husband!"

Yes. It's true. We had pretty much gotten married right after we left the police station that one day. It had been about two weeks after we eloped and let's just say, things were rough. Romantically and pretty much every other part of our life, Jade managed to get the crummy end of the stick. I wasn't very attentive when we were intimate and otherwise, my mind was constantly mapping out destinations where the real Roy Harper might be. It's not that I wasn't interested, it's just that I was distracted.
Never letting myself have a break. Never knowing how to just let go.

Later that night, Roy walks in, throws his gear on the ground and plops onto the sofa. Jade, in bed asleep, awakens to the loud entry and quickly covers herself with a robe to go take a look.

"Roy?! What took so long?! I was worried!" Jade responds.
"I was out. You knew that." Roy replies in a snarky tone.
"Yes, but I didn't know you would be out this late. You should've called!"  Jade disregards his attitude and continues.
"Whatever! If you were that concerned, you would've gone out to look for me." Roy rolls his eyes.
"I didn't think that was necessary. I wanted to wait it out a bit before freaking out. I called you. Didn't you see my texts?"
"I saw them."
"Well?!" Jade crosses her arms.
"What?! I'm a grown man! I don't need my wife blowing up my phone because her hair gets in a twist over missing me!" Roy blurts.
"Really?! That's your response?!" Jade scoffs.
"Pretty much." Roy leans back against the sofa.
"Fine. I'm going back to bed." Jade responds, walking away towards their bedroom.

I was such a jerk! I can't help but wonder if I ever made Jade cry. I know! I know! Jade? The world's greatest assassin? Cry?! But to tell you the truth, Jade has a soft side she doesn't show very often, but when she does, it could melt your heart. I love that woman. I beat myself up inside every time I think about how much I probably hurt her. I hope she knows how sorry I am. When she came back the first time, I tried so many times to apologize, but it did no good. She is a tough one to crack. She acted like it didn't bother her, but I know she knew that I wasn't fooled.
